i got it bad
i'm beginning to worry about the US. our country has fucked itself over, plain and simple. how?
dependency on oil =/
after we won WW2 we began to start the largest, worst, mislocation of people and life ever. suburbs...
in the next few decades gas prices are going to go up like crazy. people won't be able to aford to drive in their stupid cars for over an hour a day. we're going to have to contract our way of life, slow it down, and our technology will slow down and all hell will break lose i believe. people will start to move back into the cities, the suburbs will begin to rot away as cars are no longer used. flight will slow down and become much more expensive as they also have trouble to pay for the fuel required to fly. importing goods from other countries will become extremely expensive as the tankers that bring things from one continent to another will have trouble also paying for the fuel they need to go across the water.
i have to say industry will slow down a great deal as angriculture will come back to play a major role. the suburbs have destroyed a good major portion of our good arable land, as after 1950, nearby farmland was paved over with rows of endless houses. leaving us with only a portion of the arable land we started with. also the large vehiclies used to farm will not be able to be used because they won't have the fuel to run either. farming will have to be closer to home, no more growing crops then sending them hundreds of miles to be bought there. there really is no replenishable source for fuel. really. there isn't. so for the hundreds of millions of american idiots who decided to locate themselves out of the city limits will have to move back pretty soon. many products that we use today also use oil, and that will soon come to an end too.
if you think about it, most of our problems go back to the suburbs, such as racism and the division of people into suburbs to escape the racial diversity of the city. war on iraq, the scramble to get oil from the middle east, the pollution destroying our skies. global warming. extreme materialism.
yeah we're doomed.
