I was really worried about the characterisation as canon doesn't really give much to go on (especially for Mal). I'm glad my additions didn't seem out of place to you.

Wow. What a powerful exploration of how Mal come to lose her mind (and totem). Love the lyrical feel of the whole fic, the poetic cadence as Mal began to lose her grip on reality and sink deeper and deeper into insanity.
