Yeaaaaahhhh, here comes the rooster!
Saw the Chinese new years parade in San Francisco. It was fairly large, and I saw both Nancy Pelosi and the mayor of San Francisco. I was half expecting to see Arnie there too, but no. The parade itself was fun, yet at the same time a bit of a let down. The parade was infested with commercialism. There were a lot of floats with prominent corporate sponsership, like from McDonalds or Wells Fargo. Nothing conveys the spirit of Chinese New Years like corporate banking. There were at least a number of chinese dragons and firecrackers. And this is the year of the Rooster, so lots of chicken floats too. There was one clown who was wandering through the parade with a large rooster figure down his pants. He would go to the crowd and open his jacket to expose his, um...cock to people. I'm not sure if he was actually part of the parade, or just some random crackpot with a rooster down his pants.
