Spring Break: Part Deux

Okay, I can now fully admit that the PTB was looking out for us when we didn’t get to make it to New York.

Late Saturday my dad started getting sick. We thought the flu, but by Sunday afternoon he was in such abdominal pain that he literally couldn’t walk. We took him to the hospital where after several hours of ER waiting, we thought he had appendicitis. One CT Scan later we find out that he has a hole in his colon caused by diverticulitis and that if they don’t operate immediately he’ll be dead.

Needless to say the past 24 hours have been more than stressful. The 3 hours of sleep, the drug-addict brother and his messed up wife didn’t help. I may seriously bitch-slap her tomorrow if things are anything like today. I would go into more detail on that, but the 3 hours of sleep and full day of work after getting home at 4AM last night are really beginning to pay their toll.

Just to say that my dad has the hole repaired and his gallbladder removed. He’ll wear a colostomy bag for 4-5 months and then have another surgery where they put him back to normal and remove his appendix. But he was already acting restless tonight so hopefully he won’t be in the hospital for the week that was first thought.

Again…I am beyond grateful that we weren’t in NY when this happened. I don’t know if he would be alive right now.

Now off to try to read Disco and ignore the fact that my brother and his wife are the two most annoying people on Earth.
