Now I guess is a good time to poke lrig_rorrim/icaruslived/jem0000000 to write their idea about tardigrades. ;)

I don't know what I'm going to write this week. I'd joke about writing time-travel, but I've done that recently. Something else, maybe. We'll see. I like open topics-having the freedom to just write is always nice-but I'm feeling a little burnt-out after mentoring undergrads today, so...no ideas as yet. There was something about "conceptual cities" talked about last week-I might take that and run with it.

Tardigrades are able to survive in extreme environments that would kill almost any other animal, including:

...Pressure - they can withstand the extremely low pressure of a vacuum and also very high pressures, more than 1,200 times atmospheric pressure. Tardigrades can survive the vacuum of open space and solar radiation combined for at least 10 days. Some species can also withstand pressure of 6,000 atmospheres, which is nearly six times the pressure of water in the deepest ocean trench, the Mariana trench.

There was a little talk about incorporating the tardigrades into a story about space-travel. :)
