A few words from me:

Welcome to the first poll of the New Year!

I hope you had a nice holiday season - and now we are back to the business of finding the Next LJ Idol! Which is a whole different kind of fun! The kind of fun that keeps you up late at night writing (and reading) entries ( Read more... )

I feared this, particularly this week where I don't feel my entry will be an especially popular one. Good times, good times ;)

I'm right there with you, hon.

i'm not just blowing smoke up your skirt when I say I really enjoyed your entry this week, and you'll have at least one vote from me.

Oh, thank you! You got one from me as well. :)

I related to your first attempts. There's a part of me that feels like I should be writing Great Works of Literature. Instead I write smut, because smut sells. I don't have enough confidence in my own writing yet to tackle the YA that's been bopping around in my head, or really try to say anything with my writing.

Which isn't to say that blowing smoke up your skirt doesn't sound damned entertaining...

sorry, I'm in a weird mood. Need to go post my "please vote for me!" post. Being like four spots from the bottom and being told I should really be next to last doesn't help, since I think a lot of people get bored and quit reading/voting by the time they hit Tribe 3...

I don't do it by tribe, I do it by order of submission. Which means it's harder for me to evaluate those last entries that come in, as my brain is tired by then. lol

I'm tired by the end of the last tribe I read- which I try not to do in order but I imagine a lot of people do.

Depends on what kind of smoke and what kind of skirt. ;)

I'm with John--I read the entries as they're submitted, because otherwise I'd just go EEP and hide every weekend.

I always try to/intend to do that, but I never actually do. I read the ones on my friends list and a few others, and then go through them tribe by tribe at voting time.

I read from the list and I alsso read according what is in my Friends list as well. Once the poll goes up, I read it on there, and read and vote according to what I think of the entry etc.

I start reading my tribe first (which happens to be 3) and read from the bottom up in all of them. I've been at the bottom of the list all competition (teach me to choose a username close to the end of the alphabet!) and I'm still here, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yes, I'm thinking that I should have gone with the bye option. I haven't been doing brilliant entries recently. It didn't occur to me that 6 people might be leaving this week (SIX!!!), so byes will be going, well, bye-bye if not next week, the week after.

Ah well. I suppose there's a certain amount of pride to have got this far by writing rather than skipping a hard week (I'm going to keep telling myself that so if I get voted off, I have something to console myself with!).

I'm sure you'll be fine though. I reckon the people leaving this week will be a big surprise.

so byes will be going, well, bye-bye if not next week, the week after.

This week.

We started the week with 85.
One person dropped earlier this week
Two people dropped today.
Two people didn't submit entries today.
Six people will be eliminated with this vote.

We'll be down to 75 when the poll closes.

The byes are gone.

Now I'm kicking myself. I should have used it. Ah well. I revert to doing the dance of no bye and add in the Wiggle of Doom.

Yeah I didn't think this week would be the end of the byes either. I'll join you in the no bye dance and remain hopeful.

I think that those of us who didn't use their bye deserve a prize. Maybe a left over Christmas cookie, or something.
