Results - Week 31

The person cut before the finale is always a heart-breaking result.

They were so close, but that little bit more eluded them. In this case, it ended up being decided by 2 votes.

Had he gotten to the end, viagra would have been the second person, in the history of Idol, to accomplish that without taking a bye. He received immunity once, but no other ( Read more... )

Damn. It was a good run (much better than my last few times around, and quite honestly much much better than I really anticipated when I signed up).

Gary, I think it was in season six when I wrote a piece on an optional topic (it was Thanksgiving or Christmas or something) and I wrote something that wasn't designed to get votes at all, but just for me to write, and you specifically mentioned something later on about how good of a writer you thought I was when I pushed past the meta game guy and just wrote. I tried to take that to heart this time around.

Thanks to everyone that supported me, and got me as far as I did, not really believing it every step of the way. My friend promised me a big dinner if I won the whole shebang, but I think fourth place is pretty damn good!

I got what I needed from this contest, and hopefully I'll get a free dinner this weekend. Good luck, top three! Make me proud. :-)

I don't specifically recall saying that. But, thinking back over that season - I stand by it. I'm glad that it stuck with you, and even more happy that other people got to experience your talent.

There are so many traps set in the fabric of Idol, and getting caught up in the meta game is definitely one of them. People trip themselves up all the time and forget to "just write."

I've seen folks try to be clever and some think "oh this great character..." but ultimately people want something *real*. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, whatever - there needs to a part of you on that page.

(this comment started out being about you and then morphed into a general statement about writing. Sorry! :D)

My memory isn't the best anymore, as you may know, but if I recall correctly, that was probably something you said when I was eliminated in Season 6. And if you didn't say it, well whatever-I still credit you for it!

I tried my best this time around not to get too meta with it and focus on gameplay, because that's not what I came for this time; I came to write! But I do really enjoy the gameplay aspect sometimes (when it's helping me out anyway), so it's hard to pull away from that sometimes.

I'm not sure if I'll come back for another regular season, but I'd definitely do a mini-season and if you ever do feel like calling up some All Stars, I'd be happy to oblige. But I do love this game so even if I don't compete next full season, I'll probably still be here commenting and analyzing. :-)

I was doing "goodbyes" then. (I was living with my cats above an ice cream shop. I had more than enough time. :D)

That's definitely something that I would say! (and will take credit for it even if I didn't)

There's going to be something a little different happening next. But after that will be a mini season. All Stars is a dream of mine, but half of the folks still around have threatened to riot if I ever announced it. :D (and the other half would riot if I ever actually did it!)

I'm not sure when the next full season is going to be. I'll know it's time when it's time.

I've SO enjoyed reading your entries these many, many months. Which you may have noticed. ;)

I'm so glad you decided to return to Idol for this season, and did so well! You made this treadmill of a never-ending pandemic so much more bearable for me, and I appreciate both that and getting to know you this season!
