Vote - Week 26

Jul 07, 2020 21:20

This is the best week ever.

Why?

Because I am eliminating ALL OF YOU!

It's not the finale. But I'm getting rid of everybody.

But you still have hope. You CAN be saved.

Or rather, at least 9 of you can be saved. Season 1 of LJ Idol started with 9 contestants. It's only fitting that Season 11 should kick off the drive to the finish with 9 ( Read more... )

This is an interesting thought, actually. I wonder what the possible results could be, with overlap. In theory, we could end up with a top 5!

I feel like, in practice, it would be more like:

Jury saves alycewilson.

Gatekeepers save alycewilson, bleodswean, d0gs, dadi, and encrefloue. Because alycewilson has already been saved by the Jury, she doesn't count, and the Gatekeepers actually end up saving their top 6, so halfshellvenus is also saved.

At this point we have three more contestants waiting to be saved. Let's say that the contestant-only vote goes entirely in alphabetical order from most to least votes. Since alycewilson, bleodswean, d0gs, dadi, encrefloue, and halfshellvenus have already been saved, their votes aren't counted, and karmasoup, kittenboo, and lyssa027 end up being saved by the contestant vote, despite those three technically being in 7th, 8th, and 9th place in the contestant vote.

Then again, there's always the possibility that Gary does something evil and doesn't take out someone that has already been saved by another method, and we go from 14 to 5. Wouldn't that be wild?

I'm confident that he's not that evil; though, and since he said at least 9 will be saved, I think that's a good enough guarantee that there won't be any shenanigans behind the scenes that get us below 9. But the thing about Idol is you really never know, huh?

Ugh, just performing this thought experiment has made me sick with nervousness.

Thanks for mapping that out. That is exactly the situation I was thinking about, but was too lazy to do what you did. Since the contestant vote and gatekeeper vote are about the same thing, "the entries I like best," I wonder if the chance of some overlap is pretty good. Unless Gary is evil, as you say. Since that is already known, perhaps we should sacrifice a goat or something (probably cookies) to survive this. By sacrificing cookies, I mean, of course, eat them. The odd thing about sacrificing a goat to the gods is at best they got the smell of the BBQ but none of the good stuff. This would make me hungry and mad at mankind, not appeased. But then, I'm not a god -- just a guy with a keyboard.

I mean, if we can sacrifice cookies by eating them, surely we can sacrifice some delicious BBQ in the same way. The Gods will vicariously enjoy our fulfillment.

Also, sorry that you and I place so low in the alphabetical order that we were eliminated by default in my thought experiment.

But at the same time, I would kind of love to see something like that happen, if only for the "what are the odds" moment.

Yes, we're the bottom dwellers. At the beginning, I'm kind of in the middle, but I get lower as the year progresses, until now -- the bottom. I start at the bottom and work my way up to those upper-alphabet types.

This is exactly correct.

About me being evil. :)

Not confirming the rest. (but that "could be" correct)

Yeah, I definitely knew I had that part right, at least!
