It wasn't very unusual for Simon to answer a phone call, blanch, and sneak quietly out the door in the weeks since he'd returned from Ganon. He was fairly positive Kaito had caught him more than once, but before the older boy could stop him, Simon had disappeared into the shadows. He came back long after midnight, almost a zombie with exhaustion ( Read more... )

Simon paced, slowly, quietly. He had no desire to fight the phantom thief. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to. There were enough people here take care of it who weren't him.

But still, sitting alone on the steps, he watches the others prepare, and slowly, for the building to shut down.

While the others are panicking over the lack of communication, Simon remains on the stairs, silently. His tiny presence is unnoticed by the others, and he wonders why he was even called here in the first place.

Simon hadn't expected that, pulling himself to his feet at the commotion. And his surprise showed on his face when he was the one standing between Kid and the exit. Panic was in his eyes, glancing back and forth for help, he firmly plants himself where he stands.

"Y-you can't take that!" His voice wavers. Thieves are dangerous... and Simon is hardly qualified for fighting.

Simon's fear drives him forward, diving at his knees, trying to stop him from getting away.

Simon lands on his hands and knees behind Kid, before picking himself up and running after the thief. Can't... lose him... Simon's legs are short, he's running as fast as he can, gasping for breath.

Of course he is, and he's not far behind. He braces himself against a wall before looking up at the white-suited thief before him. He swallows, trying to regain his breath.

"Please. I-I--" he clenches his eyes shut. "I can't fight you, but if I let you take it, he won't let me go home!" He's cold inside. He has no desire to fight, and no desire to take back what was stolen...

But he won't lose. He's clung to the idea of home through every job Ganon had sent him on, and the last thing he was going to do was fuck up his chances of going home tonight. He was desperate. He'd beg, if he had to. He had to go home.

"You don't know him!" Simon shakes his head. "Even without it, he's terrifying! If you think that's all he has, you're crazy!"

He wipes his mouth on the back of his sleeve. His heart is in his throat, and his fingers tremble. One hand dives into a coat pocket--Ganon would have been a fool to assign him a guard position unarmed.

"Please. I don't want to fight!" I'm no good at it, you'd kill me!

He pulls a knife from the pocket, shaking his head. The weapon is relatively useless--Simon barely knows how to fight with it, but he has no choice at this point. "You might not but he does."
