The Lloyd House

May 31, 2005 18:34

Today I went with my dad to this house down the street from where he used to live. This old man, Mr. Lloyd, had to go to the hospital a few months ago, and he never came back. He died at 76, and he had no family, save one nephew that he didn't really care for. My dad, as Mr. Lloyd's neighbor, was really nice to him, and took care of his house while he was gone, and visited him in the hospital and whatnot. When Mr. Lloyd died, he left everything to my dad in his will (be nice to old lonely people, right?), and my dad chose to fix up the house.

So today I went with my dad to fix up the house. It was broken down like this, in percentage of time:
20% - at the house
75% - on the road between the house and the dump
5% - at the dump

Mr. Lloyd had been living in the house with termites for months, and considering that everything (including the front door) was made of wood, things were in pretty crappy shape. The entire place reminded me of a haunted house, which is why I was so compelled to take pictures. I tried going for a mournful / mysterious / spooky feel. These are the seventeen best of about thirty-six (I deleted the rest). If I could, I'd definitely take a bunch of these over, and move stuff around a little bit (I didn't arrange anything), but of course pretty much everything you see was tossed at the dump. Some of the pics are better than others, but

YOUR OPINION WOULD BE HIGHLY REGARDED BECAUSE I WANT TO PUT A HANDFUL OF THESE UP ON HTTP://COLDTHROATESKIMO.DEVIANTART.COM/.

Mouse over the picture if you'd like to know more about it.

Anyway, enough of me blabbing -- here are the pics. xp please take your time as you look through them?

By the way, I know how to photoshop ... vaguely.

If you're interested in my favorite pics of these, or in hearing about the rest of my day (because remember - this is only 20% of my day, according to my breakdown above), either comment or IM me.

Thanks.
