The kindness of strangers II

Now here is a strange Christmas tale for you all....

I collected the post today and there was a package. Great I thought, maybe a Christmas present? Then I noticed that it was addressed to me in my maiden name and with the suburb south of mine, which is how I am listed in the white pages (I have never bothered to correct it as I don't want to make life easy for telemarketers). Obviously the sender had looked me up in the book, and it must be an old friend to know my maiden name.

I looked at the senders address and it is no one I recognised. I know no one of that name from that suburb. Who could this be, some old school friend perhaps?

I opened the package and it was a wrapped Christmas present. How nice, but who was it from? I know no Wilson from Smith St Thomastown....

Well I had to peek, who wouldn't? I was looking for a card of course.... the was no card, but a movie DVD "The Others" with Nichole Kidman, and a Beethoven CD.

Not being able to take the suspense any longer I looked up the yellow pages and got Ms/Mr Wilson's phone number and rang it. It turns out this JS Wilson didn't know me from a bar of soap, and assured me that she had not sent me any present. She thought that it was rather spooky.

So, some kind hearted soul bought a Christmas present, and picked out two random names for the phone book, and then used one to send the present to, and the other (Ms Wilson) as a fake senders address. He or she faked a "J Wilson" signature for the postal declaration.

Make of it what you will.

(NB to protect Ms Wilson I have changed her details for this post.)
