I went shopping today, and bought a new summer wardrobe. There was a sale on and a bought 6 items for $205, not bad going. Things were getting desperate, I had nothing to wear except my old gym shorts, which were starting to get too small as well. All the new items are things that I will get a lot of wear out of and most are 100% cotton, (one is 97%). Very serviceable and wearable and good value.
Then I went to ye old Swimwear Galore to get some new bathers to fit over "Bobbie". I didn’t think much of the skirted two piece numbers, (what, hide my belly!) but did find a bright blue pair of togs that screamed “buy me!”. Seriously, it had “Therase” written all over it. I knew at once that the colour would look great on me, and that the style would - well - would not make me look any less endowed shall we say…. Then I saw the price - ouch.
I tried it on and sure enough - it looked great. It looked like a one piece but was really two. I felt a bit uneasy, I mean, I bought a very similar pair when I was 22ish, but I am 38, and married, and pregnant, what would people think about me “popping out” as my mother would say.
I tried on a couple of very nice one piece speedo-style bathers that would do very nicely at a swim meet. One was all black, and the other was black with contrasting trim. Very smart and modest, and I would get lots of wear from then at the pool.
Well I lashed out and bought the blue pair. I showed Allen when I got home and he was very happy indeed. He thought it was a best thing that I had bought, and said that I was not “popping out” at all, and that it looked great, and what is sunscreen for anyway. He said he was pleased that I didn’t get the black pair. He he.
I am going to Anglesea soon for a weekend, so I will wear them then.
