What I have for Baby

Dec 01, 2005 14:58

So far I have a big bag of prefolded washable nappies which are hand-me-downs from the last baby,(medium and large, no new born size) two little cloth books I bought last month, I teddy that I got at part of a duty-free deal six years ago and a May Gibbs alphabet wall freeze I won at a quiz night five years ago. Plus various heirlooms that baby will not be allowed to wear for long.

Everyday cloths: two singlets, one woollen cardigan and one knitted woollen snow suit (courtesy of mother-in-law).

Maybe I am still a bit scarred to go serious shopping.... maybe I need to reorganise the house so I will have somewhere to put everything....

It has been suggested that I consider a nappy wash service. Sounds good to me, it is just that it costs about $80 a week, and that is a lot. Some people get everyone to contribute at a baby shower or something, but $80 a week? One would need 100 mates to give $40 each for the first year.... but I have heard of people who swear by it. I would like to keep ongoing weekly costs down so that I would have a choice of working or not working once the baby arrives. If the weekly costs are too high then one income may not cover it. Nappies and formula are big expenses that I was hoping to avoid. I would rather be able to be at home and spend money on kinder gym or family excursions for the zoo and so forth.
