It Has Come to This

So, it appears there is a good time to update the LJ on a regular basis ... the wee hours of the morning :-(

I can't sleep. I tried, for sure, but there's too much on my mind. You know how it's said that if you can't sleep you should get out of bed and do something 'til you're ready to try again? Well, hi! I was hoping there'd be someone on IM to keep me company, but all I'm seeing are yellow "notes" beside everyone's names. Oh, LJ, you never desert me in my times of need ... lol.

There's also MySpace, which is a help because if I load my profile, I can listen to the latest song that's stuck in my head and I can't hear enough: Nickelback's "Savin' Me" (which was very well done at the concert). I haven't bought the album yet, so if I want to listen to it ad infinitum my only avenue for that is MySpace. And to think I once despised such bourgeoisie frivolity!

It's the latest song of theirs to go on the radio and I've heard it on 93.5 a few times. I gotta say ... it's an early candidate for a Rapptor Award in the Song of the Year category. I like it just that much (your mileage might vary, but this ain't your blog!).

Last year's candidates for the coveted SOTY gold-plated menacing dinosaur with eyes of rubies and teeth of the finest cubic zirconia (hey, I work for a non-profit...) were:
- Audioslave's "Be Yourself"
- Carbon Leaf's "What About Everything"
- Disturbed's "Stricken"
- Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
- Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These Hazel Eyes"
- Matisyahu's "King Without a Crown" (the live version, not the bollocks that NOK plays)
- Ringside's "Tired of Being Sorry."

Since I couldn't decide between them, I splurged and gave them all a Rapptor. Now you know where my tax refund went ... and we haven't even touched on books and movies. But it was a Harry Potter year in both categories, so those shouldn't be hard to figure out.

Moving along from yet another lengthy digression, yes, it's going to be a wild week and that's what's on my mind. This is my first solo concert week at work, with the seventh Master Series concert Saturday night. I've got a ton to do to get ready for it and for Cirque Symphonique on April 11 (I'll talk more about that nearer the day, but it's going to be good and I wish anyone who reads this would consider coming for $36, $26, or $16...). At the board meeting last week they made it very clear that they want to make money on Symphonique. They didn't address it to me, per se, but since I do the publicity and manage the box office, well, I got the message. It's stress I don't need, to be honest. But whatever; it's game time.

Speaking of game time, softball starts tomorrow night. Tonight, actually, if you're looking to be a stickler. My Sunday school class is being paired with a married class's guys in a Richland County men's league comprised of all Shandon teams. All of our guys are pumped about this and so am I. It's so much fun and we get to play for ten weeks! Here's hoping nobody else wants to play first base, mainly because I haven't played anywhere else in so long that I probably don't know how anymore! Plus, it's just kinda my thing. I have a somewhat distinctive style over there.

What else, what else? Hmm. I think that's all I'm reddy to cover at this point. This is where MySpace has changed TRR. It's impossible to tell how many people read this now, so I can't be quite as comfortable about being as forthcoming as I used to be when only my LJ crew plus some of The Boys and Katie, Mandy and Lauren read this garbage. Even my parents found it because I forgot to take my sig out of an e-mail, haha. But that's okay. I take all comers, provided you don't mind the randomness and self-centered ramblings. Sigh.

It's about time to try the sleep thing again. If I don't get enough I'm liable to lose my religion at work and/or the Killian Park softball field, and that, really, is just bad form.

Man, it's gonna be a crazy week.
