Rain and Handheld Ranting

It has been raining nonstop since yesterday afternoon.   Last night and most of this morning, there was lots of lightning and thunder, so I shut my computer off and unplugged it.  As long as I live in this alcove (with its one non-grounded outlet), that is how it must be.  The rain continues, but the lightning seems to have stopped for now.  I had to end my game a little sooner than I wanted last night, and I'm hoping it won't interfere with my participation in tonight's game.

This morning I played GBA and DS games for a bit.  Dr. Sudoku is quite nice.  I actually prefer it to Sudoku Gridmaster for the DS.  It has a lot more puzzles, and also gives you the option of taking Sudoku puzzles from other sources, like the newspaper, and solving them on your GBA.

I also played Children of Mana on my DS for a while.  As usual, I'm playing the token female character.  Four playable characters, and only one is female.  As usual, she sucks at everything except archery and magic. *sigh*  Naturally, you can't get all the cool items unless you play the game with others.  It's the same in pretty much every game I've owned for the DS, except for Sudoku Gridmaster.  If the game has any kind of multiplayer capability, they Penalize you for not using it!  Even on games where there is no multiplayer capability, per se, they'll insist on you linking it to a similar console game to unlock stuff.  I think this little annoyance started with Pokémon. Collect them all, my ass. It's not exactly easy for me to find other people to play a handheld game with.  I don't know any adults who play the games that I play, and it kinda gives people the wrong impression when an adult goes around asking strange children if they want to play games with them.  I suppose this is what I get for playing games not designed for my demographic. I sure wish somebody would design a good handheld RPG that doesn't suck, for my demographic.
