Letting off some Steam and surfing the audio.

On Friday, my TV finally decided to stop working. I have been having problems with it but I was still able to get it working. It stopped working for good on Friday. I am saving up for a new TV but most likely will not get it until after Christmas. If this happened to me a few years ago, I would be freaking out. Now, There is so much stuff I can do until I get my new TV. I can still stream shows and movies from Netflix on my PC. Also, I have finally caught up with the latest season of Fringe. I work when it is on TV so being able to watch full episodes on FOX's website is cool. On Saturday, I created a Steam account and have been doing some PC gaming.

Steam is basically the PC equivalent of Xbox Live on the 360 or the PSN on PS3. You can download games from their service. Also, some games on Steam have their own achievements that you can earn. The first game I downloaded from Steam is the free game Alien Swarm. It's basically a top down Left 4 Dead style game with alien bugs instead of zombies. It could be a fun game but my PC is not the best PC game suited for gaming. It's very slow running on my PC. The second game I played from Steam is called Audiosurf. I got the demo for it and eventually bought it after a few times playing the demo. It uses your music to create a track to steer a spaceship on it. You must collect the colored blocks while steering away from the grey ones.

There are 3 difficulty levels and each one has different ships that you can pick from. I have been sticking with the Casual difficulty. The songs from the Girl Talk album I mentioned last entry are fun to play on this game. The changes in tempo each song has makes the course a challenge sometimes. Included with the game is the soundtrack to The Orange Box. I haven't tried out any of those songs but I will eventually. Here's a video of the song "Still Alive" to show you Audiosurf in action.

I also downloaded the demo to Torchlight. It's a Diablo style RPG. I have played some of it and I might have to buy the full version eventually. The controls with the mouse and keyboard are simple to figure out and accessing your character's inventory is also easy.

The big thing about Steam are the sales that they have regularly. I wish that PSN and Xbox Live had sales like this. I am planning to get Bejeweled 3 when I get paid on Friday. I will also have to check out some of the other demos that Steam has. If any of you have Steam, My id is gunbladewarrior.

That's all I have been up to recently.
