Blessed. Crazily.

I adore the holiday season. And it's not because of the gifts. Or the food (oh glorious food). I mean, those are great pluses, but the real meat of the matter for me is the face time with the people I love. And each time that happens -- whether it's over a waist-ruining, table-groaning feast; or a quiet, cozy afternoon nursing coffees; or a crazy, laugh-my-tonsils-out night -- I am reminded to be grateful because my life is populated by true love and light.

My family has been there from the very start (and when I say family I mean it in the broadest sense possible).  And though as people we are all flawed and imperfect, these individuals are beautiful as they strive to love perfectly -- and in doing so teach me and inspire me to do the same.

Other valuable people came into my life came later on -- these people I grew up with and hold dear -- and we have seen each other through growing pains. I expect we shall be seeing each other through more hard life lessons, and will be laughing and drinking and promoting the holy cult of all that is silly, crazy, and funny together -- for life.

And still others are recent finds, the year's gifts from the divine. These are the surprises that keep life big and exciting, shining individuals that have expanded your circle, your sphere. They keep you moving and help you grow.

I once read that souls travel in tribes. I used to think my happy, sunny, silly life was complete. It's a wonderful surprise to be turning corners and meeting new siblings of the soul.

To all the people who fill my heart and life (including the online kind): the most joyful holiday season to you.
