Confessions of a Twins fan.

I find that I have been watching a lot more baseball more than usual.  And since I can't seem to find anything else to write about, thank you writer's block, I could write about "my" team.

I'm a Minnesotan born and raised, as such I support the Twins.  Probably the only Minnesota team I root for with anything more than a passing indifference.  The Vikings are what is on on Sundays when I'm not made to watch golf.  Other than that, I like hockey, but am not picky about teams and I never got into basketball.  The only other team I have any particular interest in is Arsenal in the English football league.

Okay, So.  I should probably admit that it's been a really long time since I've played softball.  And yes, I do think Joe Mauer is really attractive.  But I also enjoy having baseball on in the background of whatever I'm doing.  That said, I have been paying attention.  Sort of.

The first road trip I didn't really pay much attention to.  But they won those two series anyway.  The home opener, did not watch, but know that they won.  Same until the next series, that I did watch.  Don't remember much, except the Twinkies have been having trouble with matinee games.  Why?

Blah blah blah, then we get to the series in Detroit.  First series loss.  Dang.  Now we had Mauer on a day off, Morneau with a twisted back and no one could break through to get any offense going. le sigh.  Nada, even when Mauer came in as a pinch hitter, but then I don't think many people could get anywhere near hitting a 100 mph pitch.

Cleveland.  The second game was just not very good.  I was switching between the game and White House Correspondents Dinner, I found both the president and Jay Leno amusing, so I didn't catch the whole game.  I read in the paper this morning that Gardie kept the door to the locker room closed a few minutes longer and then declined to do his usual post-game chat.  What ever he said worked, they won today.  Bad news, Mauer bruised his heel trying to beat a throw to first.  Boo.  Morneau is playing again.  Yay.  And the new catcher than was called up from Rochester, hell, a 4 hit major league debut.  Go Ramos. dang.  Add in a few home runs from Thome, Hudson and Young and suddenly the bats are working a hell of a lot better.

Okay, so that was a little boring, but perhaps I'll get better, and this will at least get me writing in this thing more often.  You don't like it? Well too damn bad.  Hopefully this will help keep me from going on about baseball and boring my friends to death.  I'm going to the game against Baltimore and looking forward to looking around Target Field.  I had to explain to someone *cough*Erica*cough* that they didn't rename the Metrodome, they had built a whole new stadium.  I laughed when someone else called the 'Dome "that building that looks like a souffle."  At least at Target Field I won't have to fight the feeling that I should be in the Papa John's booth making pizza.

That's all I got for the moment.
