The shop got broke into. Yes. Broke into.
Saturday 2am. Police think amateur. Somebody busted in the glass door in the front office, ran straight back into the shop, bear hugged Daddy's new computer tower and LCD monitor and ran straight back out. They apparently didn't even bother to unplug anything, since the LAN cables n stuff were strung halfway to the door. But that's ALL they got away with. Ran right past the laptop I use at work, right past my personal laptop next to my desk, right past the server machine on the LAN rack, right past Mom's machine, and stepped over Buddy's laptop (our salesman) to get to Daddy's. Weird. The police pulled in right at the getaway car pulled out, and they think they recognize the folks in it. They also found the mouse in the parking lot and are dusting for fingerprints. Mom had her receipt with model and serial number (which shocked the poor officers). There is a fair chance of recovery, but insurance would prolly cover a new one.
The shop cat, Buster Crab, who is only a couple months old, hid out all night in the back and finally came out around 4am, poor little thing. I can only imagine his fright. He had a rough start to begin with (he was rescued when someone threw him out the window of a moving vehicle attached to a brick by a weed eater string tied around his neck), and then somebody comes crashing into his new safe place in the middle of night, sets off all kinds of alarms, and police officers running around, and all that jazz, and all in the middle of an upset tummy from being wormed. He seems a little extra hungry for affection this morning, but none the worse for the wear.
Mom and Daddy waited on the lumber shop to open up at 7am so they could put plywood over the front door. They were in town until 10am, and decided hell with menus, we're eating at Molly's for breakfast.
On their way home, Mom took the S10 parts runner truck and drove it home for me to drive around this weekend. The insurance company accepted my out of state license. So I have vehicular transportation of my own on the weekends, and I'm insured to drive any one of the seven company vehicles should the need arise.
Other than the shop being busted into, the weekend was good. I managed to unpack what I need for now, and get what I didn't need back into storage. It felt soooo good to be able to drive myself into town, open my own storage unit, move it all around myself, and drive myself back home. A little independence does wonders for the spirit. A paycheck this Friday will do more. ^.^ Heehee!
My girls aren't so mad anymore either. I think they're resigned now, but not mad anymore.
The left sleeve of one of my grey Hanes men's small t shirts (like an undershirt, I like using them for workshirts at the shop) is dissolving.... It looks like it's been splashed with acid or something. Mysterious.
I sure hope they finish rewiring the place soon. Lights going on and off, network going down randomly, shouts back and forth to pull this or slack up on that.... Ah well, it should be easier to test machines with the new outlets. And better than it being jerry-rigged like it was before. Having a spare master electrician on the clock is pretty awesome. And his time sheets! So pretty-perfect! I think I'm in love! (Relax
xail, he's married, and you have my heart anyhow.)
They need to shut off the power again.... And Fedex is here, and the phone is ringing... Mondays!
