The Art Of Writing Jacob/Esau

First and foremost, I have to thank tellshannon815 for inviting me to a lead discussion here again -- this time about yet another of my very favorite pairings, involving two of my very favorite characters: the almighty Jacob and his awesome brother, Smokey/Man In Black/Nameless Boy/Dr. Smoke/Esau. I’m going to mostly stick with Esau from here on out, though.

.) LOVE for them and their epicness! And YES, Titus is delectable. Yum.

.) I think I latched on to the possibility that it's not exactly his brother 1) because of the actual the dead body, and 2) because of the potential for glorious, beautiful angst. Which I love. But I swing both ways on this one, too :D

.) I love the idea of playing with these two through time. And I have a hard time sexualizing Locke as a character, even when he's a Smoke Monster. I am currently writing a Heroes/Doctor Who/Lost crossover, where, you know... other people come to the Island and were both screwed with, did some screwing with, and got just plain screwed ;D

.) WORD.

.) I completely and wholeheartedly agree. There was definitely love between them, and I do believe that's what really gives the pairing a unique and gorgeous depth. Similarly, while I'm down with a bit of violence here and there, non-con and dub-con are really not my thing in general, and these two are no exception.

.) TRUE fact.

.) I love the freedom to go so many places with these two while not "violating" canon, as well -- it makes so much more room for creativity and experimentation and awesomeness.

.) I am so working on that, bb. And it's a modern-ish sideways this time around, though one of the other versions I'd pondered wasn't. Someone should write that.

.) I love that you're a porny girl these days ;) Those themes are definitely very them, though, and I mean, come on -- fluff is always nice :D

.) YES. Yes, yes, and YES. They are both complete and utter assholes, and that's part of what's to love about them ;)

.) Immortal is an excellent term for it, definitely. There's a gravity that really infuses the characters when you consider the whole concept of them from that perspective.

.) Lovely recs, and that video is great! And I'm flattered that you included me, doll -- thank you so much! <3
