My first day of work was alright as far as first days of work go. That is, there's always an adjustment period while you get used to a new place and a new system and new colleagues and new bosses, but I think taking all that into account, it went fairly well.
And the library has an awful lot of books. Which it would do, being a library, but I never noticed how many until I was told to sort through them all alphabetically to make sure they were in the right section which was so why I got my eight NEWTs, to do something like that. As you can imagine I'm nowhere near done.
Personally I think it would be a task far better left for the Christmas holidays when there are hardly any students about to use the library, so that (a) I have more time to do it and (b) since not many will be using the library, I'll have less work to do by rechecking and resorting the sections I've already organised in case someone has added a book to them in the wrong order since I last checked them. But I like my head where it is on my neck so I'm not bringing that up to Pince.
It feels odd being back in Hogwarts after over a year away from the place. And it doesn't help matters that I still look young enough to be one of the students. No less than three teachers asked me why I was out of uniform on a weekday, and Filch tried to give me a detention for being so. Only Professor McGonagall happened to walk by then and overheard, then proceded to give him a big lecture on how I was indeed not a student but the new library assistant and it wasn't his place to give out detentions anyway it was rather amusing to watch his reaction.
NEWT students, remember that if those of you doing special projects want my help with research, leave your name and research topic at the front desk and I'll try to help you find more materials. That's what I'm here for after all though apparently not.
Now to cook a meal. Oliver's on patrol right now so I'll have to fend for myself. He's left instructions and I'm good at following instructions. It should be easy...
I said that I would never discuss anything personal here, so I am not going to talk about Terence and what by Godfrey he's doing in Hogsmeade...
