[Things have been fairly calm and quiet around the Keep of late, but a recent post by Isabella has brought to mind something that has been put off for far too long ( Read more... )

[No, you REALLY do not know how very much she would rather not.

The bard hasn't harbored an ill will for years. Not like this. She's actually mad. It hadn't gone away and it's been festering all this time, so that when she takes the time to think on it and meditate it makes her even more upset.

Still, perhaps Talia had something of importance to say.

The bard's reply is extremely monotone. ]

The Green. In a bell's time.

[She is not happy. Not happy at all.]

[Talia certainly doesn't need her empathy to read that response at all. Still, rather than respond she just makes note of the time and location.

When the time comes, it's off to the Green she goes. She'll be waiting there, leaning against the rail of the fence patiently.]

[Isabella approaches cautiously. She doesn't know Talia, that much is apparent. For all that the bard is angry, there is some fear mixed with it.

The frown on her face could get stuck there if she continued on any longer. Her feathers showed her agitation, they were spiked in odd places and her good wing canted a bit to the side.]

Yes?

You wished to speak to me.

[Talia has her shields at about half mast, but she's not purposefully mucking in Isabella's mind at all. In truth, she'd not need to to read the blatant distrust and anger within the younger woman.

It was in her steps and posture, and most undeniably in her tone of voice.

Even so, her shields are lowered and the fear is also noticeable; that stings the most of all.

Talia had really done this to herself and had only herself to blame. She pushes up from the fence railing and turns to face Isabella as she approaches.]

I did, yes .. I ask you only for a few minutes of your time and then you can be as far away from me as you feel safely inclined to be.

[Her hazel gaze moves over the bard's face and she finally sighs, tucking an errant section of curls behind her ear.]I owe you an apology of the most profuse nature. You have every right to be angry with me and I'm not expecting you to forgive me immediately, if at all ( ... )

[Isabella listens to the other woman.

While an apology helps in one way, it worsens her feelings in another.

Perhaps if the only party that had been involved in the incident was herself, she could forgive Talia. It had not though. Sollux had been left in the stocks alone, and Isabella still felt guilt over it, as though she could have prevented that from happening. She could not have though.

It had been decided for her.]

Easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission?

[The words were almost said in the same tone of voice she had used before, if you discounted the bitterness. The bard's feelings have festered for awhile, and the sigh makes it seems as though this was more a duty unfinished than something with meaning behind it.It bothers me most of all that... the deed had been done without a second thought. You had no right, Herald Talia. It was to no benefit of mine to keep me from that night. I fear that you would do it again, out of habit, perhaps, should a situation arise where you deem it necessary ( ... )

[This was a losing battle in several ways before Talia even took it on and yet she knew she still had to: it was the right theing to do.

She shakes her head gently in response to Isabella's quip, maintaining her patience and decorum. The last thing she needed to do right now was get upset when it wasn't her place to. She had expected Isabella to be upset and she could hardly fault her for it at all.]

In the end? No, generally it is not and if you're being told 'no' it's for a damn good reason that someone should respect.

[She falls silent as Isabella begins to speak again, maintaining eye contact but having the good grace to flinch at not only the use of her title, but the fact that Isabella fears the same action again.]

You are correct .. I had no right and I only made things worse by making the choice that I made. I thought it was for the best, but I made the wrong decision and it is not something I can undo, nor is it something that will likely ever not effect the way you view me.

It was wrong of me to keep you from Sollux .. ( ... )

fff! XD ...this is what happens when bards fight? halfbrokenwings August 29 2011, 04:01:00 UTC
[She's quiet.

For someone that makes her living as an object in motion, the stillness perhaps is the most damning aspect of how serious this conversation is.

Talia had something right; Isabella could not look upon the relationship in the same light again. What possibility there had been for a friendship, was gone in a flash and the charred remains of such being scattered to the winds.

When she does speak, it's quiet and bears the weight of a wound that is not solely Talia's doing but has been made fresh again.]

I have had quite enough of people taking my choices from me.

[Isabella isn't going to be so much of a doormat anymore.]

I can not forgive you, Talia. I just hope that you've learned and do not do this to someone else.

[But she doesn't believe it. Should Talia deem 'best interest' she doesn't see the Herald hesitating in using her powers for their 'benefit'. Then say sorry afterwords. If being Talia's friend meant the girl took it upon herself to act as some omnipotent guardian figure, then Isabella would opt out, thank ( ... )
