[Talia really just wanted to get down to the stables, nose deep in her journal as she listens and reads past entries. She was not expecting to leave her room and come nearly face to web with any number of delicate weavings throughout the hallway. She only just missed stepping on any number of the arachnids, trying her best to avoid doing so for ( Read more... )

*Sollux was on his way out of the barracks, very carefully avoiding as many webs as possible (and generally wishing he'd decided to just jump out of a window instead) when he comes across Talia.*

[Talia has made a bit of progress down the hall, although she is still intent on not stepping on the spiders if she can avoid it; particularly after learning that at least one was perfectly sentient.

She hears approaching steps and glances back over her shoulder, not startled at all at the appearance of the non-human looking Sollux, whether or not she knows him. Talia's seen some crazy shit in her life, and what with being life-bonded to Kevas she rather takes it all in stride.]

Is the infestation as bad down that way as this?

*Sollux does not care about stepping on spiders; they are in the way and would probably step on him if they were bigger. He assumed he wouldn't care much about Talia, either, but stops short at her voice.
It was her. That fucking loud girl...and she was still alive? Something else must be wrong here.
He hmphs and straightens up.*

Its probably the same everywhere. I could barely leave my room.

[Talia can't help but miss the reaction the boy has toward her and she frowns slightly. She realizes precisely why he is looking at her that way when she hears him speak. Her smile slips a bit and her stomach tightens.

Damn.

He looks quite unimpressed to see her and she forces herself to nod.]

I rather feared that was the case .. [She ponies up now, because really there is no point in avoiding or acting like she doesn't realize who he is.]

Sollux, yes?

Yeah. And you're Talia.

*He seems rather unimpressed.*

How come you're still here?

[Tali nods once in affirmation and then blinks at the last, sighing as she folds her arms across her chest.]

I found he whom I sought. Unfortunately, our leaving is not in the cards. We are to remain as long as this place makes us ..

I .. I would apologize again, Sollux, for any discomfort my mistake caused you.

No, of course you can't leave.

*He sighs. If she called out like that on purpose...sort of...then its probably some weird human thing. Its not like he can make out his normal voices anyway.*

Just stay out of my fucking head. I don't need it.

[She smiles almost apologetically.]

Would that I could ..

[His response is possibly the best she is going to get from him, so she's going to roll with it.]

I will .. [Or at least she would do her best .. things had a habit of happening in places like this. Look at the Elegante ..:\ ]

*He scratches his head a bit. She's being really nice, even if he assumes its out of guilt, so there's really no reason to be pissyierr than usual with her.*

Look, uh, I'm usually not so...angry. Its just that I have enough trouble with voices without another one butting in.

[Now it's Talia's turn to be a bit surprised, blinking as Sollux offers (sort of) an apology. She tilts her head slightly to one side at his remark, brows knitting together. It was a hell of a position to be in; to want to help, or offer it, but to know that it would more than likely be refuted.]

It is alright, Sollux.. I can understand that it would be alarming even if that were not the case. Have .. Have you always suffered thus?

[She holds up a hand to placate any outburst that might be returned.]

I do not mean to pry into information that is not mine to have .. if you would rather not say, than do not.

Whatever.

Yeah, its always been there and it always will be.

*Or at least none of the visions ever seemed to hint at an end to his pain...aside from death, anyway.*

[She grimaces at the reply and cannot help the gesture of help, knowing that it might be refused anyway.]

If there is ever anything I can do, I would be more than willing to help .. I am well aware that we did not start off on the right hand, and that you likely do not wish for help, but if you should ever want ..

I know well what it is like to hear such ..

[There .. the offer had been made. She didn't know anything about him, but the offer had been made and couldn't be undone.]

*Sollux snorts and rolls his eyes.*

You can't do anything. No one can. Its just how it is.

*She knows what its like, huh? He kind of doubts that, but she's probably psychic somehow too. That might explain the projecting, even if he was pretty sure no trolls worked like that.*

[Talia nods her head in acceptance, knowing better than to try to push a point. Sollux knew himself best and she'd not go where she was unwanted; it was against her own morals and her training.]

I am sorry .. if there is ever anything, you have only to say and I will do everything in my power.

[Maybe not voices, but the girl has had other people's emotions in her head for the last ten+ years.]

Whatever.

*Its not really just blowing her off, he doesn't expect her to ever be able to help him with anything.
Sollux shrugs and turns to go.*

[Talia, for her part, tries not to take it too personally, knowing more than her fair share of abrupt persons. Haven help her .. Alberich was more than a bit abrupt and she'd trained under him for years.]

Mind the spiders, Sollux .. they've a penchant for biting if disturbed.
