Grrrr, last wednesday I agreed to a change to my role - after much thought and worrying.
My boss is away but uberboss signed all the papers and was in charge of making sure that everything was OK.
Today I became more than a little concerned because until I have something in my hand or at least a verbal from the personnel manager I can not, in all honesty, assume that the change is really going to occur. So I sent an e-mail to uberboss asking him whether everything was in order and should I be thinking about arranging cover if I haven't got the position. Uber boss calls me immediately and says that he's completed the paperwork ages ago (prob thurs) and passed it to personnel and maybe it's best if I speak to the HR manager myself.
So I send her a very similar e-mail early this morning. I hear nothing. So I call her (it's 3pm). "Oh yes" says she, "It's all in order I just haven't had a chance to write you a letter. I was going to call you this afternoon and tell you" yes, right I believe that as much as I believe that 'the cheque's in the post'. And then she says "can I call you back when I've got all the paperwork infront of me so that we can make sure I have the dates correct and everything"
W.T.F?!
How difficult would it have been for her to have responded to my e-mail this morning - even with a one liner.
Flipping useless woman.
Grrrr.
Still the changes are happening and I am venturing into the world of management again. At least as it's a secondment if it doesn't work I can just come back to this job. But as of monday (probably) I will be Halls Manager for Hamwic Halls of Residence. Wish me luck. This is my last chance to prove that I'm not just a lowly administrator. I must just remind myself to think and think again before I act.
