But really Jules I see where youre coming from and its a valid point. So you're saying that theyre all tools, but what exactly by this definition is a tool? It seems you are saying it is someone who devotes a lot of time and energy into something others think is worthless. You've said some interesting stuff here though, its cliche that we shouldnt judge a book by its cover and all that jazz, but i think the better point you've made is maybe not to take ourselves too seriously and take pride in whatever interests us(even if it is american idol). However, I still think that we cannot let these interests define us.

Yet really, what we choose to like and dislike forms a huge part of our identity and thus our personality. So what defines the personality rather than the identity? I guess its the attributes of our character. Like whether a person is smart, funny, caring or genuine...or maybe a complete jerk.
