Road Rage
OK, it's no surprise to friends of mine that I have a temper. I have bad road rage. People who don't signal...need to die. People who brake before they signal...they need to be screamed at. These are pet peeves of mine.
Today, as I was about to get in a turn lane at a stop light, a car comes barreling down the lane, passing traffic that is stopped, so he can get to the turn light. I know people do this, but there's a certain 'polite' distance you get to before you do it, ya know? You don't drive 40 mph past 3 blocks of stopped traffic so you can turn at the light. So as I'm getting in to the turn lane (at a polite distance), Speed Racer comes up behind me honking and not slowing down. So I swerve, and he speeds past me and to the stoplight. I pull up behind him, cussing and flailing my hands like Rain Man being forced on an airplane.
The light turns green, and the car takes off. We both turn left, and he knows he's pissed me off. So he takes off like the Millennium Falcon, and I floor it to trail him...because you know, that's so incredibly smart. I figure I'll scare him a little (which is stupid to believe). Well then I see the side street I need to turn on to get the library. I repeat, the LIBRARY. Captain Vengeance Behind The Wheel is on his way to the LIBRARY. So I quickly try to brake and turn. Well, there has been construction, and they have those smooth metal coverings down. I'm laughing now again. So as I brake and turn, my tires hit this smooth metal, and of course, I don't stop. Hahahaha. I hit the curb, while turning my truck. I bang my horn and honk it. Oh it gets better! AND my fucking windshield wipers get turned on!! HAHAHA. I quickly gain control of my vehicle and proceed down the street. For 5 seconds, I'm a bit shaken. And then...I bust out laughing at how idiotic that must have looked. :)
No damage was done to my truck since it is high enough that only the tire hit the curb. Once inside the library, I continued laughing to myself and grinning for a good 10 minutes. How stupid was I?!?!? Seriously, that was beyond dumb. :)
So the moral to the story?? If you hate bad drivers, don't turn in to one just to get back at them. Because you will look REALLY REALLY dumb. And then for some reason, you will feel a need to let others know about the incident as some form of retribution for your silliness. :) That is all.
And don't forget to use that turn signal!! You paid good money for it.
