transit strike.
I ended up getting to work 20 minutes early today, BUT I had to pay 15 bucks for a cab to do so.
A lot of people didn't show up and there wasn't much for me to do at all. It was basically a waste of a day. Shouldn't have gone in, but I'm responsible and dedicated, so yeah.
We were allowed to leave early, so I left just before 4:30. It took a while to get a cab, then the cab ride to the Port Authority took 30 minutes (and this time cost 12 bucks).
Both ways there were 4 passengers in the cab and I was squished in the middle. Each person had to pay an individual flat rate.
Cab drivers are making a shitload of money!
I cannot afford to do this every day, so this transit strike shit better end soon or I don't know what's gonna happen.
I'll go in again tomorrow. If there's still a strike on Thursday, the office is gonna close for the holiday, since Thursday is supposed to be a half day.
There's no work on Friday and I'm not sure about Monday. So it will be nice to have an extra long weekend, if that is the case.
Not looking forward to doing this again tomorrow.
