Flying Darkness
Crow Hackers
Appearance: Large black hovering balls that drip a shadowy black substance. They usually float no more than 5 feet off the ground, but can manage up to 9 feet. In the center is a huge grinning mouth with crooked, blunt yellowed teeth. The smiling Cheshire-cat-like black lipped mouth spits or 'hacks' out greasy tar dripping red eyed 'crows' or black birds of some sort. They come in many sizes; from small blobs in the air that spit just a few, to larger than human sized balls that spit countless birds.
Speed: Average bird speed. Although they are dripping with heavy hot and burning tar, they still seem to fly like a normal bird. The hacker itself seems to float slowly, but can bounce from wall to wall with some speed.
Traits/Powers: With a coughing hack and a sticky splat, it hacks out sharp-beaked black attack birds that drip tar and fly with speed.
Location: Scattered throughout the island.
Rarity: Commonly found in the more residential areas but can be found throughout the island here and there. They tend to be a bit thicker the later the night gets.
Notes: It’s uncertain if the crows are a part of the ball itself, or if it has a nest of these gross little birds inside of it.
Flying Whale
Appearance: Large and hovering, with a rounded upper half that looks as if it is smiling. There are three black eyes and a row of horns. This is actually the backside of the creature. The lower half has a long thin head with two rows of teeth and three serpentine creatures coming from inside. Six scythe-shaped arms help propel it through the air. The hind end appears to be what keeps it floating like a blimp.
Speed: Average. If it catches a good wind, however, it could be really fast.
Traits/Powers: It appears to have a lot of stuff going on. Really sharp scythe arms. Teeth and a thirst for flesh and blood. Strong tentacular arms that have mouths of their own. On top of all of that, it can drag itself over the ground or float. The large back end has a gas inside, causing it to actually drift on the air. On its back are several large sacks of some liquid and gas. As these pockets are broken, causing it lots of pain in the process, the liquid and gas shoots out. It is said this gas causes blindness if a person is exposed to it at all. While the gas blinds, the liquid burns. It will set clothing on fire almost instantly and burn flesh swiftly unless removed.
Location: Everywhere, though they have a heavy clumping around the 1st and 2nd Sectors.
Rarity: Common
Notes: Recent discovery of a cure for the blindness has been found in the last year or so. It is a painful process that can take up to two months to restore sight. Doctors put the infected person under a scope and surgically peel off a layer of film that builds on the top of the eyes. After a few days, they pull another layer off. It takes a good week to finish the process and two months or so for a persons eyes to heal properly for sight to return.
Icarus Winged
Appearance: This one could fit in either humanoid or flying really, as it looks very humanoid in face and features. Perhaps angelic-looking, but nothing short of a demon of the dead. Its wings are large and greasy, as if made of a drip wax. Its body, too, seems almost wax-like, though with more flesh-like features as well. It could be a human body, but the burnt out holes riddled through the body look as if they were melted or burnt out. The lower body is missing completely, like an open dripping wound. Large traps or even 'flaps' hold in rope like intestines.
Speed: Pretty fast in the air but useless on the ground.
Traits/Powers: Clawed hands. The flaps under the gaping wound of the belly open and drop the intestines down upon its prey, entangling it, twisting around it, and hauling it up into the air. Rather strong fliers.
Location: All over the island, but higher places are better. They like to roost on top of taller buildings. You can find them on the roofs most the time, but they can be found on street level as well.
Rarity: Not that uncommon really, especially when up in high places. Less common on street level. Never underground.
Notes: Fire. They hate fire. And heat. And light. Melt their wings and they are useless.
Parrotsquid
AKA: Twitter fish
Appearance:One of the brighter colored darkness creatures to date, it appears in yellows, greens, blues, reds and pinks. They are small, anywhere from 4 to 16 inches long. A large eye on either side of their head that seems to have poor vision for light. Flash a light on them, and you will find they are almost translucent. The inside appears to hold an ink sac like most squid do. 8 long ‘tails’ that help it move through water or air. A small black beak at the front appears much more like a bird than the beak of a squid. Two rubbery wings stick out on either side. The creature looks more suited to water, but it can be found flying as well.
Speed: Much faster in water then on the air. It can cut through the water with ease and speed. In the air it seems a bit more graceful, but slower.
Traits/Powers: Unknown. Faster under water and in groups, they may swarm a person using their beaks to bite and rip a meal apart. It swims better then it flies, but it does fly. They can be seen migrating nightly from one lake to the other, across the city. While in the water they cloud their hunting grounds with ink. In flight, they make sharp chirping sounds.
Location: Lakes and ponds.
Rarity: Common.
Notes: I place them in the flying creatures section because they DO fly and most people will encounter them while in flight. (I would hope people aren’t dumb enough to swim at night.) These seem to be more of an annoying pest than anything else.

Rotmoss Wasps
Appearance: Large wasp-like creatures, with no arms or other appendages other then its bat like wings. On its back is a moss like substance and at its end is a 5 inch long jet black stinger. They have huge compound eyes and sharp pincers that are able to break through metal, rock and wood. A dark brownish gray color.
Speed: Fast. Zippy. Speedy, like a bee on speed.
Traits/Powers: Fast, poisonous, and a pest. The stinger is not only large, but also deadly. Its poison will cause pain, numbness, spotty vision, dizziness, vomiting, black patches around the sting, and eventually death. It takes a few days for death to occur, but it will happen and generally at night. In large hives these pests are worse, and multiple stings will kill you before the poison even has the chance to effect you.
Location: Everywhere...except around watery areas (coastlines, docks, etc).
Rarity: Not all that rare.
Notes: They tend to be docile unless provoked, so tread carefully. If you find a nest, leave as silent a you can and don't linger. They smell fear.
Sight Hawks
Appearance: A headless hawk-like bird. Small, lithe, and agile in the air with a perfect body for sharp flying. It's a torso and wings, no feet, no head. On the 'neck' is one very large yellowish eye. As the neck turns the eye looks around and sees what's going on. These birds are generally seen in pairs and resting on the shoulders of The Headless (see above).
Speed: As fast as hawks.
Traits/Powers: Not lethal, but a pest. They seem to communicate with the sightless Darkness, most especially the Headless and Big Mother.
Location: Anywhere.
Rarity: Not too many of them fly about.
Notes: If you see one or a pair of them, it's a pretty good sign that The Headless will be near, and if it gets sight of you it's bound to go and tell its Headless friend.
Wyvern
AKA: Winged Pest, Double-ended Dragon
Appearance: Tubular, bug like, winged and slimy. This creature can be as long as 17 feet long, the smallest recorded was at least 5 feet in length. Its head is round, with two huge bee eyes and a large round mouth that uses feelers to grab and pull prey into its mouth. The bottom end of the long tube-like creature has a second mouth with longer tentacles for grabbing. It has two bony wings with frayed feathers. When full, its mid-section fattens. There are no arms or legs.
Speed: Swift in the air. Clocked at 50mph. Slow when taking off from nests of tops of buildings. Appears disoriented when on the ground, so movements maybe sluggish and chaotic at first.
Traits/Powers: It makes chirping sounds, and makes high pitched and ear piercing shrieks when alarmed or upset. With long tentacles it gathers and tangles prey, lifting it off the ground and feeding on it in the air. Both front and back mouths will tangle and pull on the mean, ripping parts off and ingesting it. Digestion can happen within minutes of being inside. The creature processes its meal, depositing the remains form both ends as well.
IMPORTANT: New evidence shows that Elemental powers do not effect them at all. Fire, Earth, Air, Water and any other elemental forms seem to do nothing to it. It does seem to dislike LIGHT though. Large bursts of Light scare them off.
Location: Found heavily in Sectors 1, 2 and 3 because of the taller buildings. They make their nests on down skyscrapers, but can be found throughout the city and fly in flocks. Larger Wyverns tend to fly alone. Smaller in bigger groups of 5 to 15.
Rarity: Not too rare, though not seen on street levels too often unless they are looking for a meal.
Notes: They fly in formation, and attack like pack animals. Kill the leader of the flock, and the rest will take off until a new leader is brought forward. This may take hours or minutes. Use your time wisely. A flock of these creatures invaded the Underground Mall during the security breath in April. I hear they picked off several people at the food court
