Although it has been way more then a month, a crapload has occurred in the past month that has been beyond awesome.
AnimeNorth/Carasuaga
The entire weekend I was pulling a Clark Kent/Superman deal going back and forth. Carasauga was okay, looking back... although there is nothing much I'm willing to post about concerning it. For the time I was at AN, I had a great time... although I was stressed out moreso this year then previous when it came to panels. The panels I did were: Utena, Battle Royale, How to *NOT* get a Con GF and Comics for Dummies.
Battle Royale, was decent... although I haven't watched the flick in a couple of years, still had a good grasp on the plot/characters, etc... plus I wiki'ed the subject the night prior so I wouldn't completely brain fart.
Utena was a disaster. I was completely lost and even though I love the series/books, when it comes to the hardcore analysis... the other panelists have me beat. The translator for the animated series was also in attendance, so I got him to sign my box set. I know that I'd never do a Utena panel again... evar.
'How To *Not* get a Con GF was the best time I had at a panel ever. Even though I did enjoy its sister-panel ('How To get a Con GF'), the light-heartedness of this one and the fact that we basically used all the points from the 'Get a GF' panel and just turned it on its head made it double-plus good. Man I wish there was a video of it... hell I'm still looking for the 'AN 205 Dating Game' video... anyone know where I could get it, let me know.
Comics for dummies. If Utena was a disaster, this was a calamity of 'Date Movie'/'Uwe Boll' proportions. The concept of the panel, like last year, was to get anime fans interested in comics. Well it seemed thats not what folks got from the description (another reason folks... you should really do your own descriptions for panels... ::kicks myself::). And what majority of the people who showed up (the 10 or so) was to hear about starting/creating a comic/web comic. Unknowning that fact, I rambled for a good 20mins about comics... until
Tommy Yune, my fellow panelist (along with
_lostndelirious) and guest of AN got freed up from an interview he had to do. The man was a star and really got the remainder of the panel cooking, fortunately/unfortunately... he had the same idea of the panel's theme as the people attending and took it in that direction. So I shut up and wished for the panel to finish as soon as possible. Once again... last time I do that panel... evar.

This also marked the first year and the first con since maybe CN98? That I had missed the masquerade, that was disappointing... but I shall live. I did enjoy the very few moments I got to hang with friends and met folks that I had only previously corresponded with online. Although hectic, I did enjoy my time in the video game area and playing my fellow gamers in Mario Kart DS and Tetris. The dance panel was an awesome experience... although I wish my dance partner had let me lead at least once. Overall AN wasn't as good as previous ones, but that was due to the fact that I was barely there and stressing about the upcoming trip. I'll just have to make up for it next year... hopefully with BR Tag returning in some fashion. ;)
Next update (Tomarrow hopefully... V'thon)
