A bit of weekend promotion has resulted in a quick half dozen new members this week. Thanks for joining, and I hope you enjoy the insanity.
This community is pretty self explanatory. If you're trying to figure out how to get started, click on the current contest link in the community journal, or in the userinfo, and you'll find the....current....contest. Like I said, self explanatory.
Contests are in a poll format, where each speech bubble will have its own text entry box. Once the submission deadline passes, I take all the entries and plug them in to the original cover (or I pawn this duty off on some unsuspecting member...
ghost429 I'm looking at you!)
Once all the entries are set up, I post a massive vote thread, and everyone gets to vote for their top three entries. You have to vote to win any awards, and you can't vote for yourself.
Winners get trophies. Losers complain, or just pretend they never entered in the first place.
But this is all on the userinfo page, and I'm not going to repost it every time our membership jumps by 6 or 7 people, so I'll digress.
If you're at all confused, just go enter the current contest, and the see how the process unfolds over the next few days.
If you can't see the text entry boxes in the current contest, it's because you haven't joined the community. Go fix that.
So there you go... Welcome all.
Existing Members, start paying attention again:
A few trophies have become too much work.
- The Silicon Slick G. Luv Award for Exemplary Pimplary
- The Good Citizen's Award
- The Award for Magnificent Participance
With so many members, I can't be expected to check to see if people promote. If you have promoted, but haven't received an award for it, shoot me a link to the post.
The other two awards involve FAR too much vote/entry tracking to be worthwhile, and they've been holding up the trophy case updating. Good Citizens (voting in all contests entered) seems a bit unnecessary anymore. I'll keep the participance award, but the qualifications for the award will be less distinct. I think I'll just award it to people who have been active in submitting entries, and remove it when people have been MIA for a couple weeks. It'll just denote who is active.
