and it parfs like heaven.

alyssa and i got back from our bend trip today. it was rad, as usual. it was our third year at the same awesome B&B, but unfortunately they're going out of business in two weeks after doing it for 13 years. sad. we're gonna have to find a new anniversary haunt.

i'm zapping super hard right now. i remembered to bring everything i needed for the trip EXCEPT my zoloft. i considered having my doctor call in a prescription to the bend safeway, but i figured the zaps wouldn't really get bad until the day we came home, and i was right. alcohol actually helps tame the zaps a bit, so i'm drinking beers tonight (like i need an excuse though right?). but once i gobble down my usual massive 200 mg dose tomorrow morning, i'll be good. i often hate being physically addicted to this drug. i'm considering getting off it again. it's been almost four years since the last time i tried it, so it might go better this time.

also, we missed our cats so much and they clearly missed us. tessa and parf have been all over me since we got home. chowder has been all over alyssa. he's never all over me, so that is normal.

in the documentary about the making of tegan & sara's the con album, they said that they knew the exact running order of the album before they even went into the studio (and they ended up with their best album to date). i always really liked that idea, so i might try it with my next album. here's an idea for a running order, the demos of which come to 33 minutes and change in my itunes playlist (the finished version would surely be a few minutes longer though because a lot of the arrangements aren't fleshed out yet):

1. return
2. something from nothing
3. no way
4. variations in the pattern
5. before i knew
6. only in the dark
7. laser tag
8. photosynthesis
9. douglas fur
10. you're still there
11. left behind

put THAT in your parf and smoke it!

i'm thinking the name of the album might be variations in the pattern. alyssa thinks it sounds hipsterish and pretentious. maybe so, but for some reason it's sticking with me. i tend to go with whatever album title sticks in my mind, even if i may eventually be able to think of something better.

what's a pattern?
