today i worked a ton on mixing the we shared milk's banana stand set. finished it. it sounds pretty good i think! now i'm caught up with the banana stand mixings. there's always more though. usually whatever i mix is from a show three or four months ago, so there's a constant backlog.
the day before yesterday, ky sent me his vocals for "i shot the deputy." i did my backing vocals yesterday and also had him do a fix of one line in a verse that he sang the wrong lyrics on. but now ALL recording for the album is done! and i've had everything else 95% mixed for a while now, so it's not going to be long before the album is done. i'm going to do an online-only release at first to get it out there, followed by a CD release when i get the money. ky is contributing $100, which will get us at least 1/3 of the way there. if i save some moneys here and there, we should be able to get CDs made by summer.
i'm really proud of this album. it's mostly just straight poprock without much emotional weight, but that's what i was going for, and with the help of my pugs was executed beautifully, so i'm chuffed. the next album will hopefully be a little more weighty. i've written 6 new songs and they're still mostly just pop, but i feel like i'm just getting the juices flowing again so hopefully the good stuff is still yet to come.
i found out that there is a cat personality typing system called "meet your match" that some animal shelters use to pair prospective adopters with their cats. there are three colors (purple being introverted, green being extroverted and orange being in the middle), and three subtypes within those colors resulting in nine different personality types.
check them here. alyssa and i have decided that tessa is a "secret admirer," parf is a "sidekick" and chowder is a "personal assistant." that shit is so true. they have
types for dogs too. i tried to figure out what type mayhaw and maren's dog frax is, but i couldn't (probably an orange type though). any guesses guys?
