Ron Moore told me something I didn't want to know. Which I would repeat here, protected by a spoiler space, except that I can't think of a way to indicate what kind of a spoiler it is in a way that doesn't effectively give away the information itself.
It's not even a spoiler, really. More of an... unspoiler? I just didn't want to know it. It makes me feel like RDM has been wasting even more of my time than I had previously thought.
(That was a mean thing to say. I shouldn't write entries like this when I am really bummed and need sleep and have a headache. The Presidentrix finds herself in a truly bad mood so rarely that she doesn't always cope especially well).
As Battlestar approaches its final hours, my dominant sentiment is I wish I cared less. I can't help but feel that the finale, even if it is satisfying and excellent, will just be a huge letdown. And I have a hard time believing the finale can be satisfying (though it may yet be excellent in its own way), because it seems pretty clear that Ron Moore and I aren't interested in a lot of the same things just at present. There's a point during the latest podcast (for 'Islanded in a Stream of Stars'; there will be only one long podcast for the entirety of 'Daybreak') where RDM rambles a bit about the idea that the show always be character-driven and harkens back to the miniseries, back to a time when he had to defend decisions to delay getting to 'the action' in favor of (and I nearly quote, but mostly paraphrase) 'all this Apollo and Starbuck and Laura Roslin,' because that, he said, is what he likes, and what the people like. Well, YES, said The Presidentrix, the people do like it, and they miss it, and they feel a little cheated out of a last chance to say goodbye to these characters.
*sigh*
At least I have Lee/Pigeon for consolation. I don't know about you, but I'm dying to know what comes next for Lee/Pigeon. My first choice would be: Lee adopts pigeon and builds him a little wooden house. My second choice would be: Lee cooks pigeon and eats him for brunch.
