World Without Hats, Amen
I think I just figured out the main thing that makes Science Fiction Military different from Just Regular Kind (other than maybe ray-guns): No hats!
No hats in space. Helmets, yes. Hats, no.
At least on Star Trek and BSG. No one on BSG ever seems to wear a hat - except that one time where the Undisclosed Mrs. Adama had to wear a veiled hat to the funeral so she Wouldn't Be Recognized, if later recast...
Also just realized that icons you've previously used on posts go away if you swap them out of your collection. *Sad.* (Needed this icon, 'cause it has the word 'hat' in it, see?) Wonder if they come back again if you put them back in?
Must be hats on Firefly, even though I have a harder time remembering, because Kurosawa says Badger's hat is most excellent. (Then again, they are spacefarers but not military).
