He turns away from Dr Song and his expression is a combination of scorn and not again.
Swear to me, he says after a quiet moment.
"Swear to me on something important."
He searches her eyes for compromise and finds only fear of what she is hiding from him. What, that could be so terribly wrong.
She says it with her eyes, everything she cannot bear to accept now. Imploring for understanding, for hope, in a man that is most definitely dead in her time. A burning corpse on a floating boat to nowhere.
Her voice trembles, "Fish fingers and custards."
It is how it all began and unravelled. He smiles her something tender and it morphs into look of Cheshire.
Then he proceeds to leave his life in her hands.
