A failed experiment's life span is in its utlity and once expired, would be cast away. Like puppets without strings, tossed into oblivion, to live to die, sooner than later. But V.V. was gone before he could part his lips, words dead before birth. Like him.

Rolo built himself like a machine. Because the scientists at the basement said machines were perfect and Rolo strived to be perfection. He worked like a robot, orders became flawless execution. An unseemly grim reaper, the wolf cub cloaked in sheepskin, a paper face of innocence.
Guns and blood. Snuffling the light out of those eyes. Shadows and stealth. Mission accomplished. Warm beds and breakfast. Sheer luck.
Because acknowledgement was the only reason he was alive. Recognition was a delicious adrenaline, a drug he craved. And nothing else mattered. What could matter to robots but commands and output? So Rolo found himself at the basement lab very often. Machines never lied.
