Cats trapped in Olympic demolition site

Celia Hammond, the cat rescue charity, have rescued 168 cats from a demolition site where they are building an olympic park. Sounds like a lot but it seems there are many more now trapped inside the site. Although to be fair, those cats would never ever be re-homed because they are ferral. The RSPCA usually spays and neuters these cats and then return them to the site - which is not possible on this occasion.

People who do not spay and neuter their cats but let them outside of the house are totally to blame for this IMO.

That's not true. Some of them are breeding so there will be kittens. And celia hammond rehome feral cats all the time, it's a big part of what they do. They go to farms etc if they are not suited to homes. Plus, some strays are not feral, they used to be pets or they are young and can get used to contact. Volunteers work with them to see if they could be pets to an understanding home, but if not they go out to farms or homesteads outside of London where feral or semi-feral cats can live safely.

Farms is a brilliant idea! I never thought of that. Doh! hmmm might go sign the petition now. You convinced me it's a good idea. I found their website too full on and emotive and it turned me straight off.

i think that happens sometimes when people are passionate about things! but they do really good work :)
