OH MY GOD. I woke up this morning and was shortly in the MOST pain I have ever been in in my life.

Let me qualify that a little bit. I used to be a figure skater. I have (at different times) skated on stress fractured feet, with broken ribs, a broken collarbone, severe tendonitis in both knees and shin splints. I have had 11 stitches put in my chin after the numbing agent had worn off. This was SO much worse.

I was crying, moaning, changing position every 5 seconds. I tried heat, I tried cold, a hot shower, stretching. The pain was in the whole upper right quadrant of my back, but worst just to the left of my shoulder blade. I even threw up twice from the pain. (That blew my mind. I just DON'T throw up and certainly not from pain.)

I called Chris once when I was taking Tylenol, and again an hour later when the pain had only gotten worse. He told me to call the midwife and I call her, bawling. She agreed I needed an emergency chiropractic appointment. I called and then managed, somehow to get myself there. (I was NOT waiting for Chris to get home to take me.)

The assistant actually asked me if I remembered the stretches they had shown me on the birth ball (to align my pelvis). I barely get out, "Yes." "Can you do them while you wait?" "NO!" @^#&#, I was working on not screaming and remembering to breathe. What part of EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT don't you understand???!!

Once the doctor came in, she felt for a few seconds and then said, "Oh, you have a rib out!"

One of my effing ribs had come completely out of its flipping socket. This sounded terrifying, and she assured me that it is not as bad as it sounds, aside from being one of the most painful things that can happen to you without doing permanent damage. She compared it to childbirth and passing kidney stones.

She eventually got it back in, although it really didn't want to go. My whole back is still REALLY sore. It feels JUST like it did before except only a 3-4 on the pain scale instead of a 9. She said the soreness should probably be gone in 12-24 hours. (Just in time for my baby shower!) and have me a numbing cream and told me to ice every 3-4 hours. She told me they can pop out again really easily (which terrifies me!!!) although mine might not because I came in so soon, so it hadn't got used to being in the "out" position. Needless to say, I am not doing ANYTHING on her list of "ways this can happen" for several weeks.

That was my eventful and painful morning.
