Chris was kind of offered a 5 year stint in Qatar. One of his managers was kind of feeling him out on it. I'm kind of like, "Let's do it!" Move to Qatar, see a little of the world. We would lock up the house and go. No kids, one dog, why not?

They pay for housing and expenses.
They fly you back to the states every three months.
We would have 5 years to travel Europe and Asia at our leisure on holidays and long weekends.
We would be living in Qatar! OMG.
A dozen US schools have branches there (including Texas A&M), so it wouldn't interfere with DH getting his master's or me getting my degree.

I'm just like, "Let's do it! Let's do it!!!!" I feel that we are young and this is such an opportunity to get out of our box, to have an extended adventure.

There are two big caveats. One is money. We think we would want about 20% more in salary to live there. We have no idea how KBR would handle this. Chris tends to believe he would take a pay cut to work there because of all the extra allowances. I don't think he knows anyone who's ever done it though, and I do, and they all got huge pay raises plus all the expenses to go.

The other is job satisfaction. Chris LOVES his job right now and his job loves him. His future is so bright. He works in water. This job is a causeway (so not water). Will he miss out on the advancement he would have had in the states? Will they want to move him into the highways department when he returns? He is going to sit down and talk to his boss about these things.

It would probably happen in a year or so. Really, it's just in the "Let's seriously consider this" phase. But I really am hoping against hope. I think it would be the coolest thing ever. To just pack up and leave! **swoon**
