Project 1!

The VERY first thing I did when we moved in was replace the light fixture of death. The thing was HIDEOUS. Seeing as it was July (and all the lovely wedding balances were coming due) I had to be thrifty.

Here is the hideous wheat sheaf of a light fixture. It has obviously at one time been black cast iron or something, then spraypainted bumpy white. This kind of thing is NOT manufacturer standard. Who would actually BUY it? The picture doesn't do it justice. It's far uglier in person.

This is the super cheap fixture we bought. I guess it's not THAT terrible, but clear glass and shiny brass just isn't our style. I picked it because we liked the lines of the fixture itself. And because it was on sale for like $20.

I spraypained it brown, picked new shades, and hung it the very first weekend we were in the house. We love it!! The old one is still hanging out on the patio. Chris keeps insisting we need to ebay the wheat sheaf - that SOMEONE will probably pay us lots of money for it.

Me loooooove. Don't worry about those ugly plastic miniblinds. They'll be gone soon too. :p
