So today was the big day. We ventured as a family out and about to search about a 3 mile block of where we live. We packed up the car full of supplies in case something terrible happened. We locked up the house and made our way into the unknown.
The first order of business was to venture to Kendra's apartment to see if they were there. It is only about 1 min away but it felt like forever with the family in the car. Only saw 1 zombie on the way and it was out of range for Persephone to see. So no harm yet. Pulling into their apartment complex was very strange at this time. Lots of cars but no bodies around. We pulled around the cornor and their car was there. Parking the car I looked all around before we got out making sure nothing was in range to attack us. We grabbed the kids and bolted up the steps not sure what we would find. Knocking on the door. No answer. We called into the window. "hey it's jon and kendra open up." Still no answer. Finally got out my gun and opened to door with my key. I didn't know what I would do if they were zombies but I wasn't going to get betten in the process. Looking in the door. Nothing. I shouted "hello!" Still nothing. We entered the apartment and everything was fine. We searched everywhere but they were no where to be found. Persephone was crying and asking for Grandma as well was kendra. We had hoped that they were here. We feared the worst and gathered up some food and medicine.
Going back down the stairs we went. I still had to gun in my hand as something came around the cornor of the building. It was someone I had seen around the area. Like the others she was covered in blood and moaning. She started coming for us. Persephone screamed!! Kendra screamed!! Aurora was crying!! Not even thinking I fired towards her head and connected. SHe fell down quickly and quietly. I was getting better at this. Making sure that was the only one we ran back in the car. Persephone and Aurora were now both crying. Persephone was also screaming "Monsters Monsters Monsters"
I put the key in the ignition and pulled out as 2 more came out of nowhere. Luckily they were in direct parth of my car and I hit them knocking them down. As I pulled away I saw them get back up in the rearview and walking in the direction we were leaving in.
We ventured out onto the major roads now. Coming across the first shopping center we saw and pulled into it. We parked in front of the Hollywood video and noticed the windows were already smashed. Getting out of the car I scanned the area again. Nothing in sight. I made my way into the store. Didn't see much. The lights were flickering but no zombies at this point. I got Kendra and the kids out of the car. Grabbing some candy and passing it to Kendra and Seffie. Told her to get some bags and fill them with candy and soda. I got another bag and filled it with DVD's for us to watch. Nothing unusual happened at this point. We filled the bags and made our way back into the car.
Driving over to the other shopping center we pulled in front of the baja fresh restaurant. Everything looked ok and we got out of the car. I smashed the window with my gun and we all went in. Walking behind the counter I tripped over something. Looking down a man was lying on the floor. He had to be dead. I motioned for them to back up as I knelt down and checked for a pulse. Nothing! He was dead. Just dead no zombie. So bad for him and good for us. Kendra grabbed a bad and went into their freezer and started getting food. I joined her with a bag of my own. Once again filling the bags we ventured back towards the car but this time something was waiting for us.
Persephone started screaming again and my heart jumpped into my throat. This was a horrible situation that I placed my family in. Rasing the gun I fired. Missed. Fired again and this time got the head. It fell to the ground. Running towards the car we put Aurora in first. Kendra got in as I put Persephone in her seat who was no just shivering with fear. THe zombie was dead at my door and I had to kick it out of the way for me to get in. Starting the engine I knew that this was enough adventure for one day. We headed back towards our house.
Approaching our house with caution all seemed to be well. Excpet for the fact that now Persephone is scarred to death. I can still hear her crying. SHe hasn;t stopped in since we have been home. Aurora finally passed out but she was crying beacuse Persephone was crying.
We can't I wake up from this nightmare?
