The moment for reflections on 2008 and action plan for 2009
A summary of good things in 2008
- Spending more time with my family by organizing dinners, birthday celebrations, buying parents concert tickets for them to spend time together, getting to know my brother's girlfriend (who is coincidentally in my company and department as well) better
- Caught up with a couple (just a couple more) more old friends
- Became fitter and stronger (Physically mostly) through my frequent exercise regime, jogging, gym classes etc)
- Completion of my first ever full marathon at the Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon (not forgetting experiencing the protestors' strike at the airport and almost not making it in time to return to sg!)
- Completion of some more half marathons and runs during the year
- Running team has expanded to current strength of 6 and coming more I hope!
- Knowledge from my manager that I was performing well in my department.
- Better time management at work, thus more personal time, thus leading to higher overall quality of life, thus happier.
A summary of not-so-good things in 2008 (but will be better in time to come)
- Attempted to alleviate my dad's work woes by taking leave to "intern" for him but on the first day of "intern", he decided not to "hire" me because of the industry's "ban-dang" mentality that females are "dirty" and thus not allowed to deal with "sacred business"
- Falling really sick (high fever of 39 degrees usually) too frequent, think at least 5 times this year, usually right after prolonged periods of hard work and lack of sleep.
- Experiencing quarter-life/mid-life crisis
- Thinking too much about simple matters
- Heart-knot
Action plan for 2009 (I prefer action plan to resolutions)
- Making more effort to spend time with family and friends
- Becoming even fitter, in preparation for upcoming physical events below
- Learning diving in Phuket, most probably June
- Marathon/half-marathon (still deciding) in Phuket
- Climb Mount Kinabalu, most probably April
- Backpacking trip to a SEA country (Undecided on location yet, depends on who's going and when)
- Visiting my roots in Xiamen, Fujian sheng, Yongcun, with my mum and ah ma (air-ticket already bought for travel in May)
- Change of work environment (depending on opportunity)
- Persuading Dad to drink less and exercise more (Thinking of buying Wii and also organize trekking trips to Bukit Timah Hill/Mount Faber/Hortpark/MacRitchie Reservoir as a starting point)
- Untie heart knot
