I found an apartment! Go me!
It's right at the top of my price range ($700/month) but I think it's worth it because it's really nice and it's only a few minutes walk to the subway. The nearest major intersection is Danforth and Main Street, so it's technically in "East York" but still Toronto, near Greektown. The neighbourhood is really nice, all quiet streets with lots of houses, like the suburbs.
It's in the basement of a bungalow, but for a basement it's seriously gorgeous. The landlord, who lives upstairs, renovated it a few years ago when she moved in. It's a one bedroom with a really open floor plan, a bar area, a full kitchen and full bathroom, and a separate entrance. It's huge. I'm pretty sure the walls are painted this really soft orange colour. Utilities and laundry are included. And I get to bring a cat! (Maddy) The landlord is a middle-aged lesbian who lives by herself with her cat. She's pretty much the stereotypical gay woman with power tools and hockey leagues and short hair, but she's really nice. I don't have to sign a lease, it's month-to-month, so I can kind of see how it goes as to whether or not I want to come home next summer or just stay in Toronto and continue living there.
I get the keys August 15th but I probably won't move up until it gets closer to September. I have to go up on Monday night to put down last month's rent.
I'm seriously excited because it means I don't have to go through weeks of viewing apartments that I won't get anyway. Stressing about that makes me feel ill.
I can't believe summer is almost over already. Where's the excitement? Where's the romance? Where are the cute boys? We're still going camping, but that's pretty much it. Maybe cute boys then. I have to get a bathing suit.
Last night Kristine, Jenn, Lauren, Katie, Steph (all from work), Mandy and I went to Erin's apartment for a Girl's Night. We watched Say Anything and ate lots of junk food. Well, mostly the cheesecake I made, the brownies that Katie brought and some candy that Lauren brought. My cheesecake was good if I do say so myself. It was good times, but there are some things that you just shouldn't know about your co-workers. Especially when some of them are in charge of you sometimes.
Jess and I saw You, Me and Dupree tonight and it was pretty funny. Not as good as some of Owen Wilson's other stuff, but I think part of that was because he and Matt Dillon didn't really play off each other the way that Owen often does with his co-stars in other films. I just don't like Matt Dillon that much.
Yuck. It's insanely hot. It's supposed to be like 45 with the humidex on Sunday and Monday. Gross.
