Hello all. It's a beautiful evening, absolutely perfect for National Day. Makes me feel so happy when the weather is so good, the sun is shining yet it's not too hot.

Life has been good. I've been going for a lot of physiotherapy, it's really really hard work. Sometimes it's just frustrating that the things i used to be able to do so easily have suddenly become so difficult. I can't do a quad stretch, I can't really bend my knee fully, i can't even balance on one leg without it shaking after a few minutes. But the thought of returning to fencing and soccer drives me on. The thought of not being able to do either scares me enough that I don't give up on my physiotherapy. It's funny, i used to take things like walking up and down the stairs, running, jumping and squatting/kneeling all for granted and now it's so frustrating not to be able to do all that.

Anyway. It's National Day today. I read a lovely article in the Straits Times pullout today talking about Siglap, the music producer they interviewed really captured the essence of us Siglap folks. "People from Siglap are the sort who like to sit at the back of the class and get into trouble with teachers, but at the end of the day they are the ones who top the class."- this statement rings so true. I think Siglap people are all closet muggers. Hehe. And it's funny when he tells people he lives in the east, and people tell him they live in sengkang, it's east too and he says it doesn't count- i think there is a lot of pride in the fact that east siders live in the east. It's home to excellent food, some of the best in Singapore. It's where East Coast Park is. It's convenient, near the city/orchard. The last part really made me laugh too: "Siglap has the best looking girls around. No contest." Hahahahaha. I loved the article, because it said everything i would say if anyone asked me why I could only imagine living in the east and nowhere else.

I think we have a lot to be thankful for, living in Singapore. 3 things you can find here which you can't find in any developed country:
1) when you decide to eat out, there's cheap and good food
2) cheap movie tickets. Singapore probably has some of the cheapest movie tickets ever.
3) safety. it's amazing we can walk around at 3am and still feel so safe and secure, it's a wonderful environment to grow up in, and a blessing we shouldn't take for granted.

I'm going to leave for university next year but at the end of it i'll probably be coming back. It's hard to leave for too long, especially when it's where your friends and family are. Thanks for everything, Singapore.

Happy Birthday Singapore!
