stumblin' but yeah you still lookin' hella fine
Spent a week in southern Oregon and northern California. We went ziplining and whitewater rafting. Redwoods are awesome.
Also, I have shit I need to do. BUT I DON'T WANT TO, IT'S SUMMER AND I WANNA BE LAZY DAMMIT.
Fekt. I need to:
-start reading Fahrenheit 451. Stupid summer reading. I hate this book.
-get my cosplay shit together for Kumoricon.
-somehow acquire a ticket to Kumoricon.
-scrounge up enough money to buy theatergeek95 a sonic screwdriver for her birthday. Which was a while ago. SORRY BB. :(
-finish the comic I've been working on.
-finish the fic I've been not working on.
-somehow contact Em, whose phone doesn't work and who never checks her email. Joy.
-probably other stuff that I'm forgetting.
All this news about TW S4 is terrifying me. I don't know how I feel about it. Not great?
Also I think I'm starting to get sick. DNW.
Ffff, but my sister started reading Naruto and she's promised to cosplay as SnJ Shikamaru if I take her to a con sometime. I'm gonna be SnJ Chouji, so now all we need is an Ino.
Anyway. Blah blah blah comics blah blah blah awesome.
Legacy: Mike Carey is a great writer. I love how he uses his characters, and how even though Rogue is the big, main character in his book, he still takes time to develop characters like Indra and Bling! who don't have as much popularity as Rogue to fall back on and risk dying like Onyxx to make it seem like there are casualties in the periodic status quo shakeups.
And I hope I'm not the only one finding subtext about Indra's sexuality in this whole issue. I really hope it's not just my brain inventing stuff because I want Anole to have a love interest, dammit!
X-Factor: I'm gonna take a minute here to squee over Fiumara's art. It was gorgeous. I love DeLandro's work, but Fiumara can actually draw kisses! This issue was chock full of my comics OTP, and yet the other plots kept me interested too, which was great; I was never like, "I don't care about any of this stuff, just get to the RicStar already!"
(Oh, and it's the start of a brand new arc involving goofy luck-warper Longshot going to Vegas. *glee*)
New Mutants: Probably tied with X-Factor for my favorite book ATM. I love the new art, Doug is just plain awesome, and Sam and Dani finally acted on all their UST. <3 Plus someone who draws Pixie like the teenager she is, rather than a busty adult. Finally!
Second Coming: All in all, one of the better crossover events I've read.it was interesting and engaging and the villains were original. And Hope is adorable, I just want to hug her and tell her that everything's going to be okay. Poor baby. Second Coming also really made me like Cable; I was kind of indifferent to him before, but seeing him be all fatherly towards Hope was sweet and I was actually pretty sad about his death. Nightcrawler's, too, although that one didn't hit me in quite the same way.
Aaaaand X-23 gets her own book starting in September. The preview art looks great, so I'm hopeful this will be good.
