Surveyishness for my class!

So I'm doing a final project for my communications class about the effect the media has over people's buying decisions and personal beliefs, such as what we think is cool. If its possible could you please fill out this survey out. It would help me a lot!!!! And it'd be really nice not to fail.

I don't think it'll take too long...

1.basics: age, gender, occupation, location (hometown, current location etc). 18, f, student/fine mexican cuisine chef, everett/my room

2. do you think you're brand-conscious? Somewhat. I usually go for the most budget- friendly choice for a product, but if a generic brand and a name brand of a certain product have comperable prices, I will generally go for the name brand, because unconciously it seems like the name brand is somehow a higher quality, which is not often the actual case.

3. do ads influence your buying-choice? Not always. Often I try to ignore ads because I know often phony presentation of the product, and I try to buy a product based on past experiences. However, being a devout fan of flashy color, I find myself more apt to buy something that comes in a very colorful package than something that comes in plain packaging, even if it may be priced a little higher. The same goes for a cartoon character representing the product. I can hardly resist that cuddly teddy bear on the cover of the fabric softener packages.

4. if so, what sort of ads influence your buying-choice? The most obvious ads I see are ones on tv, and also from newspapers/magazines and off the internet. Ads for products seem to find their way into nearly every facet of my life. Those ads which feature something catchy (such as a toe-tappin' jingle or witty diologue during the commercial time) are more likely to stay with me and sway me to use their product.

5. if not, do your friends influence your buying-choice? for ex) do they buy/wear that particular brand? or own stuff by that particular brand? I myself am not caught up in wearing name brand clothes, but when a lot of people around me are using a certain brand for a product, I will have a much higher likelyhood of also using that product.

6. have you ever bought an item/product b/c of an ad (b/c you thought the ad was unique/eye-catching/appealing/cool)? Yes. I hate the fact that I sometimes succomb to ad companies, but recently I bought a brand of shampoo which is heavily advertised on tv. The ad made the shampoo look fantastic. After using the shampoo, my hair became very dried out and dry. It was very sad.

I just realized in the 2nd to last sentence I said "dried out and dry". I am an idiot.
