Summary: Why you shouldn't leave your window wide open. Also known as, John finds a thieving birdie and locks him in a cage.
Mods: Little birdie will need a tag, thanks! :)
When Chanshik had arrived in Hong Kong with not even a pair of underwear to his name, it hadn't taken too much effort to figure out what he was going to do about his new predicament. He'd been a compulsive thief even before he sprouted feathers, and now was time to put those skills to good use. Even better, his sparrow form could get in all sorts of places a gangly, attention-grabbing 21-year-old couldn't. Namely, in all the open windows dotting Hong Kong's skyline.
Within the first couple days of him arriving (after he'd gotten over having hands and feet again for the first time since last December), he had stolen clothing, a backpack, a toothbrush, shoes, a Keroppi watch, a flashlight, bags of food, and handfuls of jewelry and cash he'd used to buy everything else he'd needed to make himself look presentable. But he was still missing a lot more, or at least that's what he told himself. He wouldn't be living out of a backpack forever, he could hang on to a few of the cooler things he found, right?
The little sparrow lit on the edge of an open window, listening. He couldn't hear anything from inside the apartment, did that mean the owners were out? He hopped down onto a table just inside the room. When there was no immediate screaming for someone to get the broom, Chanshik did a quick check of the rooms. Good, no one here.
Oh, what was that? Attention caught, the sparrow flitted over to a shelf to peer curiously at what looked like old, cracking bowls on pedestals. They looked really old, like centuries old. Did whoever own this apartment collect stuff like this? Was there more? Gleeful at his lucky find, Chanshik flew from shelf to shelf, pecking at some of the cases containing coins and arrowheads. Could he get the case open, perhaps?
