Muses: Bang Yongnam (raisedspear) and Byun Baekhyun (whitespectrums) Date / Time: February 14th, afternoon. Rating: G Type: Thread. Status: Closed, ongoing. Summary: Valentine's Day this year is a bit different.
Valentine’s. Yongnam laid in bed, feeling quite bereft. It was odd to wake up on this special day without her. A soft sigh left his lips and he decided to shake the feeling of melancholy and uneasiness off. Then he remembered he did agree on meeting someone today to receive chocolates. The thought of the sweet treat somehow lightened his mood and a touch of a smile lifted the corner of lips. Perhaps, this day won’t turn out so bad after all. With that in mind, he dragged himself towards the bathroom to take a bath and get ready for the day ahead.
He dressed casually, deciding on a pair of comfortable dark denim jeans, a white printed tee, red baseball cap and rubber shoes. Once he was sure that all he needed was in his knapsack, he headed out of his home, into his car and then drove off to the meeting place. A park just across Mansfield Quarters. It wasn’t difficult to find compared to finding a place to park his car without getting a ticket and having his car be towed away. Once he was able to find a safe place to leave his car at, he walked to the park and started finding the young lad he decided to meet and who promised to give him lots of chocolates.
“Now, where could my chocolate boy be?” he hummed to himself, walking down the pathway with earphones plugged in his ears, eyes looking everywhere in his search.
To be honest, Baekhyun didn't know himself why he was feeling giddy all of a sudden. Was it the atmosphere of Valentine's? He remembered around this time last year he was bugging his brother all day about how he had so many chocolates to give yet not so many people to give them to. Was it the excitement of the event he was going to attend tomorrow? Perhaps so; perhaps he was just worried he might have to babysit Sehun again tomorrow. No, maybe it wasn't it either. Maybe it was just because he had someone other than his brother and Sehun to give chocolates to.
Was this how the girls (and guys, never forget) were feeling the whole day before they finally picked up the courage to give their chocolates to him? If so, then he had to make sure to apologize properly to every single one of them. Probably bake them some cookies for White Day. Yeah, he should do that.
Baekhyun was fiddling with the box in his hands as he waited, sitting on a bench as King ran around the park, pretending he was a kind of a racing car by the way he was drifting all around the place. There was unfortunately no one outside, and it suddenly felt a lot colder than it actually was. Glancing at the watch around his wrist, Baekhyun heaved a deep breath to release some of the tension in his shoulders. Just then, he saw King turn his attention towards the sidewalk by the entrance of the park. Baekhyun turned to his right, seeing a lone figure walking towards him, ears plugged with earphones. Hesitantly, he stood up, unsure whether the guy would be able to hear him, so Baekhyun just opted to bow his head slightly as a greeting, curiously peering up at him - if he was indeed the person he was waiting for.
He noticed a furry dog, a Samoyed, running around then he saw one lone guy sitting at a bench. Ah, that must be his chocolate boy. The corners of his lips tugged into a small smile as he walked towards that direction and as he walked closer, he recognized the face. Yes, because he made sure to stare at the profile picture of the other before he left and went to meet him just so he would know how he looks like and it would be easier to find or recognize him, also as to avoid any embarrassing moments of mistaking somebody else as the chocolate boy.
When the other stood up and bowed, he tugged the earphones off and smiled his full smile, returning the courteous gesture with a bow of his own. “Are you the chocolate boy?” he finally asked just to make sure he is talking to the right person. Then he stared at his face and he grinned as he recognized him completely. “I’m Bang Yongnam. Remember?” he asked, holding out a hand to the other. “I’m here to receive the chocolates you promised.”
Baekhyun was unconsciously holding the box tighter in his hands, almost crushing the sweets inside in the process. He quickly loosened his hold, though, fearing that his effort would go to waste if his chocolates and cookies became unidentified objects. As the guy came closer, Baekhyun was pretty sure he was the guy who promised to meet him here, but if only he could see his hair because if he remembered correctly, the guy had a twin and Baekhyun didn't want to mistake him for the other one--wait, did he just call him chocolate boy? That was... kind of... cute. He felt his cheeks heating up.
Then he stared at Yongnam's outstretched hand. Baekhyun blinked, unsure if he was asking for a handshake or for his chocolates. But it was their first time meeting each other, so the polite thing to do was to offer a handshake, right? ... Right...? Deciding that it was the best thing to do at the moment, Baekhyun finally grabbed Yongnam's hand in a handshake. "Yeah, I remember," Baekhyun gave him a small smile, "I'm Byun Baekhyun." Despite having no problem being social on the internet, Baekhyun still had a long way to go with his real life interpersonal communication. Even from a distance, Baekhyun could hear King snickering at him. Even his dog was making fun of him now.
The lad was cute especially when his cheeks heat up. His smile widened and he shook Baekhyun's hand when he shook his though being as playful as ever, he frowned. "Ah...I was...asking for the chocolates. Not a handshake." he teased, pretending to look a bit disappointed, watching Baekhyun's reaction. He probably shouldn't have but he couldn't stop the troll in him. Hopefully, the other won't take it wrongly and get mad.
As they shook hands, Baekhyun was paying more attention to Yongnam's facial expressions. He'd already figured out long time ago that it was rude not to look at the other person whom you were talking to, and even if Baekhyun wasn't that good with strangers, he was in no way a rude person.
So when Yongnam frowned, disappointment clear in his face, Baekhyun's whole body went cold before all the heat gathered in his face. "I-- I'm sorry!" Panicking, Baekhyun instantly pulled his hand away before unceremoniously shoving the pretty box in his hand into Yongnam's still outstretched hand. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry!" he continued to apologize, ducking his head so the other wouldn't be able to see his embarrassingly red face. "I thought-- I'm... I'm sorry..." With a weak voice, he apologized one more time, already preparing to run away from the scene as soon as Yongnam took his chocolates - he didn't even think of King, who was happily rolling on the ground with invisible butterflies (but in actuality, he was laughing at Baekhyun's embarrassment).
The way that tinge of red spread over his cheeks was really amusing and adorable, Yongnam wasn’t able to help a grin from curling his lips and finally, he chuckled. “Calm down, calm down! I was trolling you.” He laughed, feeling a little bad for embarrassing the other. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. You’re adorable.” He snickered, taking the box of chocolates though as Baekhyun shoved it quite unceremoniously in his still outstretched hand. Yongnam looked down on the beautifully covered box and grinned wider. He couldn’t remember the last time he received chocolates and it felt quite nice. Warm. “Thank you so much for this though. I really appreciate it. First time in a year that someone gave me chocolates.” He said, looking up at the younger.
“Did you make this yourself?” he wondered, finally noticing the furry dog that was rolling on the floor beside Baekhyun. It was the same one from earlier. “Oh, is that dog yours?” he inquired as well, grinning once again as he crouched down to greet it. “Hey there.”
When it finally reached his flustered brain that Yongnam was only joking and not really disappointed, Baekhyun wished there was a hole nearby so he could just hide there and never resurface. If it was possible, his face only reddened even more, not to mention Yongnam called him adorable. Well, Baekhyun had never been in this kind of situation before (he distinctly remembered one particular time with his high school crush, but he was certain he wasn't this flustered) and he wasn't sure how to react. But then Yongnam mentioned how he was the first person who gave him chocolates in a year, reminding Baekhyun of the reason why he wanted to give chocolates to the older guy in the first place.
"Yes, I made them myself," he tried to smile, but it came out as a sad small smile. "And yes, King is my dog." Baekhyun actually chuckled lightly when Yongnam greeted King, because King abruptly stopped rolling on the ground to gently nudge Yongnam's leg. He knew perfectly what this meant. "He's asking you to pet him," he said, rolling his eyes at his dog's behavior. It was just so King to act cute with the people he liked. He was like that to Baekhyun, too, at the beginning of their living together, but not so much now. Mostly because Sehun was here and King loved to tease the kid.
The small, sad smile was lost to him for he was distracted by the cute dog and he chuckled heartily when the dog nudged its head against his leg. When Baekhyun voiced out what the dog wanted, he grinned and petted it happily. “There we go. Good boy.” He cooed, scratching it behind its ear. “Ah, he’s adorable like you and his name is cool. Nice to meet you, King.” He said before he stood up and smiled widely at Baekhyun. “Thanks again for this.” Yongnam said as he raised the box of chocolates. “I’ll eat them well.” He added.
“Ah but would you like to have coffee? My treat. I should at least give you something in return, right?” he chuckled, scratching the back of his head with his free hand shyly.
Seeing Yongnam so happily complying to King's request, Baekhyun couldn't help but chuckle himself, even though the compliment made his cheeks burn again. King was definitely happy and proud when Yongnam said his name was cool, obvious from the bark he let out when Baekhyun heard a "nice to meet you too" from his dog. If only Yongnam understood.
"It's no problem at all, I'm just glad you're happy," he said quickly, flailing his arms and earning a judging look from King. Seemed like King enjoyed doing that a lot nowadays, making Baekhyun want to hide somewhere. When Yongnam offered to treat him to coffee, Baekhyun found himself unable to form words. There was a snort from King before he walked over to Baekhyun to nudge his leg. "Just say yes, Baekhyun," he said. By then, Baekhyun's cheeks were already colored pink again, and he was fidgeting with his fingers. "Sure," he finally answered, smiling up at Yongnam, "I was planning to take King for a walk anyway."
"Ah, your dog is so adorable." Yongnam sighed out as he flashed a grin at Baekhyun. When the younger man agreed on going for coffee with him, his grin grew even wider (if that is possible). "Great!" he exclaimed as he gestured towards the general direction of where he had parked his car. "Let's go take my car?" he offered with a smile. "Perhaps, we can have coffee at this cafe near the beach? Then maybe I can accompany you and King for that walk." he suggested.
Apparently Yongnam's grin was infectious; Baekhyun found himself giving the older guy one of his own grins. He was just really happy that he could help, somehow, and in his own way. Surely everyone had something painful in their past - even his own wasn't always unicorns and rainbows - and if he could, he would be more than willing to provide some source of comfort.
"Are you sure it's okay for you to do that?" he asked, eyes widening in curiosity layered with amusement. Since if he remembered correctly--scratch that; he was sure that Yongnam was the owner of Cubic. "I mean, you are the owner of a club." Chuckling lightly, Bakehyun quickly added, "ah, but I'm going to say yes to your offer before you change your mind."
“Don’t worry, work won’t start until the sun sets so we have time.” he said, his grin never leaving his face and he gestured Baekhyun to follow after him towards his car once the younger agreed to his offer. “So, tell me. What do you do? Are you still a student?” he wondered, glancing once in a while at Baekhyun. Once they reached his car, he walked over the passenger’s seat and opened the door for him.
