Which Arashi member would I want to be my boyfriend
Few days ago, I watched an episode of Himitsu no Arashi Chan’s Ranking Derby segment where Satomi Ishihara was asked which Arashi member she will choose to be her boyfriend. The victor was Nino and it made an impression to me as she gave her reasons. Some questions were also given to fathers asking which of them should they approve as their son-in-law and ladies were surveyed which of them would they want to date in a ski resort (it was shot around winter time).
Then I realized that it is very interesting to answer questions like this about Arashi and the reason why Ranking Derby is one of my favorite HnA segments. I actually wonder which of them would be a great senpai or teacher, or a husband or boyfriend material and what would be my reasons. Because I want to ponder and answer these interesting topics, I decided to share to you a piece of my mind and do some personal Arashi Ranking Derby.
Objective: I will answer some questions given in Ranking Derby and rank the members according to rational reasons I believe in.
Disclaimer: My ranking is purely based on my preference, personal views, and imagination. I will also do my best to not be biased to my ichiban and will cling to my opinions and beliefs in life (I hope I stick to this until then end). Please do not view it as reality or biased.
The first question I want to answer is: Which Arashi member would I choose to be a boyfriend. With my following reasons, here is my ranking:

5th place: Nino - I like guys who talks all the time and I love his talkative nature (even though he is sometimes more talkative than necessary). I think he can entertain me by him only talking and doing nothing else. I also like the fact that he makes songs and plays instruments as I also can and we can make songs or just play instruments together. I did not put him in the 5th rank because he is the only married member among Arashi, but because I have the impression that Nino seems to get tired easily and would not want to do some adventure. Though both of us are introverts, I prefer trying some things beyond my usual pace and I think that among Arashi, he would grumble the most if his laziness kicks in. He would prefer to stay home and play games all the time or watch or maybe talk which I like, but it would also be good to get out sometimes. Also, I think it would be difficult for him to succumb to his girl’s wants but he will still make some effort (though it will be against his will). Nino’s “yeah-I’m-cool-you-will-surely-fall-for-me” character conceals who he is and I admit it makes me see red HAHA. But he is the first one to get married, so I can only admire his love and respect to his wife and I can only imagine what kind of person she is that she made him settle down and make a commitment with her. Hands down, Nino!

4th place: Jun - He is stoic and a perfectionist, but he is also considerate of a girl’s feelings and a gentleman. He makes sure the girl feels comfortable, he loves making surprises and would discern and research what his girl wants. He will make extra efforts and be romantic as he needs to. He seems sensitive to his girl’s needs and will really make time for the relationship to work. Like him, I don’t believe in love at first sight and would consider a guy’s personality and character rather than looks or wit. He also can cook which I cannot. It seems he will check on his girl as many times as he can, keeping communication at hand, assuring his girl that their relationship is something he prioritizes like his work. However, it seems Jun loves giving gifts and I personally don’t like accepting nor giving gifts (it’s not my love language) that much. Also, he seems hard-headed, like he will insist what he wants, more strong-willed than necessary and quite possessive. If I would imagine, it would be quite exhausting on my part. I like Jun’s cool and manly side, but sometimes, just like Nino’s attitude, I admit it makes me uncomfortable in a way. HAHA!
3rd place: Sho - Sho is well-mannered, polite, and a gentleman. His work ethics is also something I am not: he plans in advance, follows his schedule and manages and organizes his time well. He knows when to speak and when to listen. I can imagine him being a great listener when his girl shares her thoughts of a matter or topic, may it be serious or something random, then he will give some piece of his mind as well. In spite his Arashi and solo activities, it seems he will also make time for a date or two and will make sure to text or call if needed to assure his girl since he has a great time management skill. Among Arashi, he is deemed to be the most intelligent so I understand where all his sophistication, disposition and courteousness come from and these make him a great boyfriend. However, it might be a bit challenging and intimidating to date him especially because of his family background and possible expectations from a girl. You need to be well-prepared and refined if you want to date someone like him. He also has a temper that makes me uncomfortable but it makes him cuter in my eyes.

2nd place: Ohno - He is someone that makes you feel like his achievements are also yours and will make you proud of his talents. He is a mystery and puzzle that you need to figure out, but once he opens up to you, he will gradually share a piece of himself. I think his girl will feel special when this happens. Ohno is surprisingly the most chosen member during HnA’s VIP Room segment by girls and I believe this is because something in him makes them feel safe and relaxed. As a person, he is really independent and calm even inside a haunted house. A girl can find him very dependable and someone who will protect her if necessary, but he also wants her to be independent and strong. Again, unpredictably, Ohno seems to know a lot of things about girls and how to surprise them. He is also straightforward and when he knows what he wants, he really pursues them despite of adversaries. However, he seemed to be hard-headed and I remember him saying he doesn’t want a girl who doesn’t support his hobbies which may be a misunderstanding between them, so he needs a girl who respects and supports his endeavors, whatever they be. He may also miss some dates or prioritize Arashi more than her, but she needs enough patience and understanding of how his mind works, but he also needs to reassure her at some point. They need to be honest with each other so the communication and relationship will work.

1st place: Aiba - I want someone whom I can take care and can take care of me and of himself. Adventurous, awkward, clumsy, effortlessly funny, kind, easy to laugh, easy to make someone laugh. Everything of this is Aiba. He is someone who needs encouragement so he can be more confident and will give you encouragement when you need one. Someone who is humble enough to admit his mistakes if he needs to and protect what is precious to him with all his might without being too hard-headed or too possessive. Though Arashi is also the topmost of his priorities, he will surely make time for his girl and will make the weirdest, most adventurous plans and dates. He is the most balanced Arashi member for me if we’re talking about a possible boyfriend. He’s easy-going, easy to talk to, will deal with things uniquely, very Aiba-ish. He can be sweet, is considerate and can be surprisingly romantic when he wants to. It looks like he will respect her decisions and will never take advantage of his girl. What I want to know is if he would be man enough to justify his relationship with his girl once it will be exposed to the public. Aiba seemed to be very easy to change his mind when he makes decisions, but maybe it’s part of his public image so I want to see his brave, authentic façade when he will be against all odds and needs to overcome his personal shadows and enemies.
