Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself. Like Dom, I'm going to require audience participation from you: when you comment to get your five things from ME, tell me five things you associate with me!

Oh, the Boosh! Almost four years ago, I was randomly browsing equine.com and saw her on there. She was cheap, she was not *too* far away, she was a wb cross, she had a nice big trot... and she was a mare and she was chestnut and she was unbroke. I should have run faaaaaaar away, or at least NOT emailed the owner. But nope! I did that. And made plans to see her while i was in Ohio for Thanksgiving. On the drive down there, the day before I was supposed to go visist, the owner called and said that I couldn't come see her because she'd sold to someone who saw her that day. I actually cried about it. Well, less than 2 weeks later, I got an email that the sale had fallen through, and they wanted to offer her to me before putting her back on the market. I said yes, made a lowball offer, they made a slightly higher one, and I accepted. A little over a week after that, she was on her way here! When she got off the trailer in mid-December, I thought "oh lord, what have I done?" She looked like a gangly yak. But I loved her. I actually bought her with the intention of training and selling her. That last part is never going to happen, if I can help it. She is awesome. She is kind of a bitch, but I love her heart and soul. She loves to work, loves to jump, and if I ever get my ass in gear, we ARE going to do some shows and hopefully event someday. I'm still in contact with her former owner/breeder to this day, and she is so impressed with how far Gabby's come (especially since I had a late start in actually backing her because I was chicken and sick!), and she always tells me how happy she is that I bought her. She's my heart horse, and I love that when I call to her in the pasture, she'll look up and whinny at me, and eventually amble over! I just spent a buttload of money on new stuff for her/me (a new-to-me used saddle, fancy used leathers, fancy irons, and a new fancy-dancy speshul bridle [Micklem]), 'cause I want to get her training back on track. I need to move her to a closer barn (she's an hour away!!!) but am not having much luck :-(
2. Molly
Ohhhh, the Molly pup. I miss her so. I love love love Frankie, of course, but I grew up with Molly. Got her as a puppy when I was 12 years old, and she passed a little over 2 years ago. When she got cancer, we did everything we could for her and she had her surgery and it bought her a few years. They were good years. I keep seeing her in unexpected places: in the face of a dog on TV, in the gait of a dog on the street, whenever I see a picture of a dog rolling in the grass. I miss her crazy bat ears and that big Molly smile. I miss having my best doggy friend always up for a cuddle when I was feeling blue. Frankie isn't QUITE as good as that automatic-comfort thing as she was; sometimes he seems a bit embarrassed by me when I cry :-P No dog I ever own will ever live up to her, she was my first, but she won't be my last.
kittencuffs sent me the sweetest card and a piece written by Eugene O'Neill on the loss of his dog, and I still have it in a prayer niche along with some other Molly stuff - a framed picture of her smiling in the grass, a little corgi figurine (we were fairly certain she had some corgi in her), a corgi ornament with "Molly" written on it, and the certificate from her cremation. I buried her ashes came in in a cedar planter (so I can take it with me wherever I live) and in it, I plant a strain of viola called "Irish Molly." Ali (kittencuffs) recently told me that she thinks Molly i still "with" me, and my heart felt full to bursting. I miss Mollusk.

If by romance you mean a hundred less-than-ideal dates (the guy who wanted to touch my hair within seconds of meeting me and yelled at his dogs to "shut the fuck up!", the guy who freaked out on me because I texted him to let him know I'd be a few minutes late/made me cry because he went off on me in a psychotic way, the guy who called me "vaginaface" as a term of endearment), a couple hundred lackluster but decent dates, and a few once-in-a-lifetime dates, then yes :-P Sometimes I look back on my dating life and wonder how I lived something so similar to Sex and the City, years after it first aired. I would write a book on it, but that's been done (and made into a TV series and made into a movie and then a sequel after that). My relationship with Kirk isn't very stereotypically "romantic" (our first actual date was pizza and some episodes of the Walking Dead I hadn't seen yet), but it's everything I need and more: sweet, thoughtful, gentle, strong, sane where/when I am not, appreciative, full of compromise (from BOTH of us!), loving, caring, etc., etc. It is not always easy, but it is always right. This is exactly where I need to be, with exactly who I need to be with (horrible grammar, but forgive me).
4. Snark
Like, actual snarkiness, or the snark community? I do love snarking on horse people, because you don't need a license to own horses and that seems to backfire on the poor horses. I think I could make a whole snarkish community based on the stupid comments in the Camelot Horse Weekly facebook page. "OMG, his back leg is cocked, IS HE OKAY? WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM? IS HE LAME?" when the rest of his body language clearly says he's resting his leg. Or "is this 3 y/o unbroke stud colt good for a 7 year old beginner rider? is he childsafe?" etc. There's a ton. As far as general snarkiness, yes. I have always been like this. Some call it bitchiness, some call it snarkiness. It might be a mix of the two. It might hedge more on the bitchiness side, though. I do have a tendency to say what's on my mind, unfiltered, and it's caused me trouble in real life and online. However, for all my snarkiness, I will and do stand by my friends, and will do anything in my power to help them. I can be exceptionally caring, if I like you enough, and if I'm allowed to crack a joke first.
5. Humor
I do love funniness and being funny. I'm not stand-up comedian material, plus I'd piss/shit my pants if I were up on stage, plus I don't find a lot of stand-ups funny, but I'm pretty good with one-liners. My humor's really dry, and macabre at times. I love making people laugh, even if it's at my own expense (which it often is).
off-topic and not related to the meme thing at all, but we might be getting a puppy soonish, before the end of the year. Also, our friends Mark and Andrea sent us this cute
"grow-a-tree" kit from flowers.com (with a really sweet message added!) as a housewarming gift, and now I feel like an asshole because we didn't send them anything when they moved to Chicago :-(
OK BYE FOR NOW.
